The Fairmont Palliser is a beautiful hotel, and overall we thought the property itself was very nice. Unfortunately, our stay was significantly impacted by the train traffic on the south side of the building. The noise from the trains was much worse than we expected. For approximately two hours, we listened to extremely loud screeching from the train wheels, which made it nearly impossible to sleep. This wasn’t just the occasional sound of a train passing—it was prolonged, very loud metal-on-metal screeching. We brought this to the attention of the staff because we already have another reservation at the Palliser at the end of the week before flying home. We specifically asked if they could make sure our next room would not be on the south/train side of the hotel. We were disappointed to be told that they could not guarantee this. We understand that a historic downtown hotel cannot control nearby train traffic, but given how disruptive the noise was and the fact that we are returning guests within the same week, we had hoped the hotel would make more of an effort to accommodate a request for a quieter room. The hotel itself is lovely, but if you are a light sleeper, I would strongly recommend requesting a room away from the south side of the building. Our experience with the train noise made what otherwise would have been a very enjoyable stay extremely difficult.

I loved the location perched in Sulphur Mountain (peace and quiet). The hotel is located walking distance from the Bathhouse and two bus stops from the Gondola. The Roam Transit bus-stop is directly in front of the hotel. Once renovation is complete, this will be a great place to stay. I didn't get to experience the spa which is why I specifically booked the hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The additional amenities such as E-bikes, Thera gun, and Roam transit bus ticket were all great to utilize. The hotel's restaurants were also good. Most of the clients were retirees.
