The actual room is basic but sufficient. Shared bathrooms are clean and there were enough that I never had to wait. I did not have issues with it being noisy and I’m a light sleeper.
The hotel itself is the treat. Pure Svalbard. It’s an old mining camp and the decor reflects that in a fun way. Lots of fun places to gather on the property—only bummer is that the sauna isn’t up and running yet. It’s walkable to town and also a stop on the flybys shuttle to the airport.
The staff is incredibly helpful. Very flexible about letting you leave bags to pick up later if you are leaving on an extended trip.
The restaurant is the real treat…wonderful breakfast included with stay AND I had two outstanding dinners there as well.
If I ever return to Svalbard this is where I would stay.
