Rooms are big and clean. The coffee at the lobby is great. Easy to get to town via the metro just a short 2 min walk.

I've been staying at the Conservatorium regularly for 12 years now, and it is remarkably consistent: great location, awesome people, striking architecture, and the best gym of all the 5-star hotels in Amsterdam. This year, though, there was one welcome change and one not-so-great one: the breakfast has improved, with the addition of a buffet, which is convenient. But they also seem to have started letting local residents use the gym, so it's now super-packed at all hours, and you have to wait for machines. The gym has always been a big part of why I stayed there, so that's disappointing.

First point of contention is the ‘self check-in’- As you always need staff to help you with the local tax payment and assigning a key card, I really don’t see the point in this and it always takes longer than traditional check in, Second was the room, on the first floor but the windows are so think that even when closed you could hear the details of conversations of passers by outside. The in room constant noise was another frustration, the extractor fan runs constantly rather than just when the bathroom light is on (as most hotels do). This is coupled with the air con which seems impossible to switch off, with a constant temperature of 20° was too hot to sleep. All this meant that despite the attentive and helpful staff, I didn’t get a proper nights sleep for any of the 3 nights I stayed - and that’s the whole point of a hotel room.

Great location on PC Hooft, next door to the Rijks Museum. Architecturally, the building has a lot of character and has been modernized as a mid-range Hotel. Rooms are small, although I think mine was smaller than most, but it was only for one night and it had an amazing view of both the museum and the canal. Beds are comfortable, flat screen TV, in room phone, open closet and shelves, mini fridge, bathroom is small with an open shower without a sill which allowed water to spill into the room. Good water pressure, and just one elevator, but in working condition. Staff are very friendly and very helpful they go out of their way to ensure you have the best possible stay I was very impressed by their dedication. Considering the location, this is a very reasonably priced hotel.

Lovely hotel on a lovely property. Very quiet and comfortable. We had a junior suite and it was spacious and perfect for relaxing. The restaurant was quite good, and we truly enjoyed our meals there.
