The location was perfect. The staff went above and beyond and helped arrange parking, taxi, dinner reservations. And even a walking tour. Carla was amazing. Breakfast was delicious!!

We loved staying at your property. Although Matera has many winding streets, Alessia was wonderful and directed us right to the parking area. The option to park on the street or use the garage for a nominal fee was very convenient. The property was extremely clean, and the included breakfast was excellent—especially the delicious made-to-order eggs. Our room was a lovely cave suite with an extra bed, which was perfect since our daughter surprised us by joining from London. The location in the...

I stayed on short notice at Casale di Maria and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. The room was very charming and unique - in one of the historic sassi (cave hewn into the rocks) but with all the modern amenities you could wish for.
I had parked a long way away but Walter, the owner, gave me a ride to my car and guided me to a parking spot near the house where I could park without getting a ticket till the next morning. Domenica, who manages the property day-to-day, stayed in online...

We love the greek theme and how well designed the hotel is. Staff was nice and helpful!
The location is amazing, in the middle of the old city.
The rituals are very interesting and should not be missed.
What could be better?
- our Bed mattress was too hard and very noisy. Wife would wake up every time I had to go to the restroom during the night.
- swiming pool / jacuzzi was a nice touch, but water was not hot enough
- room is somewhat dark and takes some time to get used to.

Our room was done very beautifully and artistically and overlooked the Sassi Barisano for a great view. The bathroom is American sized and the room contained a large closet and cute balcony. It sits on a main piazza just a couple minutes to any of the major sites. Mimmo was an excellent host and even if we said the room didn’t need to be cleaned since we were staying only two nights, he had it cleaned anyway. We enjoyed our stay!

We had an amazing stay at the Cenobio Hotel! It can be a bit tricky to find if it's your first time in Matera, and you can't drive directly to the hotel. Plus, there are some steps to navigate both downhill and uphill. Knowing this from other reviews, we contacted the hotel before our arrival. They arranged a shuttle from the car park, which made things super easy for us. I highly recommend doing this if you're planning to stay here. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, making us feel...

Matera is a unique town and this hotel captures the special qualities. Each room is different and because it is part of the cave infrastructure of the town, some rooms are dark. I'd ask for a room with widows and terrace if going back.

Everything about this property was excellent; from the initial greeting, to the final farewell! It is truly a luxury boutique hotel, with beautiful decor including Elemis amenities, very clean, and a lovely breakfast. Daniela was amazing and made us feel so welcome in addition to providing us with great directions and tips to see Matera in all its beauty. The private parking option was easily accessible and only minutes away. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST AUTHENTIC CAVE HOTEL IN MATERA. IF YOU DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL HAVE CHEATED YOURSELF OF A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. I VISITED NUMEROUS CITIES IN ITALY AND MATERA WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART AND TRANSPORT YOU BACK TO BIBLICAL TIMES (NOTE: THE MOVIE ," PASSION OF THE CHRIST " WAS FILMED HERE). OH , AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH , THE FOOD HERE IS AMAZING.

Nice, small B&B right outside the bustle of old town Matera on a more residential area. The rooms were clean and roomy (by European standards) and the continental breakfast was always ready for us in the morning. It was about a 5 minute walk to old town and sightseeing, where there were an abundance of restaurants to choose from.
Our host was very friendly and responsive. We enjoyed our stay.
