Stayed here for one week and enjoyed it. The hotel is on a fairly busy beach in Stone Town. Breakfast was excellent, dinners were sometimes good and sometimes not but the salad bar was great. It is safe to walk around Stone Town with plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops, fruits and spices for sale. There is a nice ice cream store right across from the hotel and although most places take US$ there is a money exchange very close by (on the other side of the building tunnel with good rates). We loved our stay at Kholle House in Stonetown. The hotel was Beautiful and the perfect escape to after a long day exploring. All The staff was fantastic in helping us get the arrangements prior to arriving and then helping us with a couple of the activities we wanted to do. We highly recommend.

located at the heart of Shangani, a walking distance from the sea front, Forodhani and Darajani. Small quaint property with a home feel, my kind of thing!

Breakfast was good!

Great location-within walking distance of Darjani Market and Freddie Mercury’s house. The staff was attentive and helpful. The room I stayed in was huge and clean. It was 3 flights up but they help you with your luggage. They offer spa services which is done in a hotel suite. The massage I had was terrific. My only regret is I didn’t have more time there.

Staff was undoubtedly the most considerate, best trained, thoughtful and improvisational of anywhere I have ever stayed, bar none and that includes lots of Shangri-Las, Peninsulas, Four Seasons, Ritzes and so on. The rooms are great; spacious, clean and well-stocked. Free wireless also made things nice. Our room was on the pool side and the view was still great. We absolutely loved everything about the Tembo Hotel! Everything was great-from a speedy check-in and check-out to the incredible staff that made sure we were always well taken care of at all times. If you are looking for a clean and good place to stay and for comfort in stonetown, i would deffinitely recommend this hotel. It is in the middle of the town yet feels like away from all that dirt and crowd. Best choice and quality. But exchange rates are very low in this hotel when compared to anywhere in zanzibar.

Nice location with only steps to the water front, restaurants, boats to prison island and the Freddie Mercury museum. Breakfast was lovely and staff super friendly and helpful.

In the old Stonetown, very easy to get lost in this old town but we were very close to beach so found it a bit easier to get back to the hotel. Great restaurant on top where we ate on arrival at night and turned out to be the best of all the places we ate afterwards. Beds were comfy, good international TV, bathroom and shower very nice. We had no view at all so understand we should have asked for upper floors but did not spend much time in the room

The mosquitoes were terrible. I recommend that every bed should have a net for mosquitoes/ The restaurant should have more staff with more English knowledge

Beautiful clean and modern hotel. Right at the airport. Staff very kind and work hard. Food was delicious but some of the servers could use a little more training but they were very pleasant. Downside is they only provide 1 key card this can be an inconvenience if you’re traveling with someone who remains in the room.
