not great customer servicePosted Sep 2, 2014
Cons: customer service, speed of check in and help at desk
check in was a mess - very long line and staff not very friendly, in fact seemed irritated ( not great combination for an airport hotel with tired travelers) had to ask for more towels (only 2 for 2 guests) and hair dryer, etc..and seemed like this was a big issue to request & had to wait in the long check in line again to request. Just overall not a great experience when travelling and time is so important

A short break in BergenPosted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Location. The Public areas of the hotel were very nice.
Cons: All of the items I've listed in the experience section, of our stay; above. Also; the attitude of some of the reception staff could be improved.
Location: We enjoyed the city, we took a trip up the funicular, on a short boat trip, on the tourist city sightseeing bus and we walked a lot exploring the city
On the negative side- The standard rooms are extremely small The worst aspect for us was that the room was very, very dark. There was very little light in the room and the position of the lights was bad-they were ineffective. The second worst aspect was the lack of privacy. One doesn't expect a fantastic view when staying in a standard rate room; however; to be surrounded on all sides by offices with full wall, floor to ceiling office windows able to look into your room was not acceptable. The room was already dark but we had to keep the curtains drawn when we were in the room, to prevent people looking in. Workers used the windows to lean out to have cigarettes. The third worst things was that there was only 1 single electric socket available in the room-when you both travel with mobile phones and I-Pads or Kindles, one socket is not sufficient. The socket was not in a sensible place either-thank goodness we always travel with extension cables. The next negative thing was that the Expedia site said that the rooms (even the standard rooms-it was in the room description literature on the site) had CD players and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There were neither-and when we checked with reception staff they confirmed that these facilities did NOT exist in any of the rooms The next negative thing was the food. The food was of a very poor standard

A wonderful hotel!Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hotel- staffs they have! Everything here is sweet.
Location: Located in the center of OLD TOWN BERGEN, very easy to walk around to most of the attractions.
When we don't like the room which they arranged to us, they changed for us until we are satisfied. Besides, they also told us how to travel nearby, it is so helpful!

Comfortable hotel with lots of free food!Posted Aug 13, 2014
Very welcoming hotel in the historic heart of Bergen. The complimentary food alone is enough to recommend this hotel - breakfast, afternoon pancakes, and buffet dinner. With the price of eating out in Norway this facility is amazing. Not much difference between superior and standard rooms - even downgraded to get a better view of the city.

Clean, convenient and meals incl!Posted Aug 11, 2014
Centrally located in the harbor area yet slightly away from the crowds our hotel was perfect for our two day stay in Bergen. Included in the room price are a large breakfast buffet, pancakes in the afternoon and a lite dinner buffet. Food in Bergen is expensive by US standards so we enjoyed our hotel meals and found it to be a good value to stay at the Clarion.

No privacyPosted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: The breakfasts were good.
Location: Location was good.
We had requested a view of the water months before arrival. When we arrived we were told that there were none available. We had a small room with office windows a few feet away. We couldn't open our curtains. It was horrible. It was probably one of the worst rooms in the hotel. It was definitely not worth what we had paid.

beautiful hotel in a beautiful cityPosted May 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay here. It is in a great location, close to anything you need or would like to see, and the hotel itself is quite nice. My wife thought it looked like the palace from Frozen inside. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food selections were plentiful and delicious.

Really nice hotel and stayPosted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: The buffet style breakfast and evening mean is a really good idea for a short break. The food selection might get a limited for a week or long…..
Cons: The lounge and easting areas could do with a little more atmosphere.
Location: The location is brilliant, right on Brygann and the harbour…couldn't be better for all the tourist traps!
We stayed here over the long Easter break and had a really nice time. The check in was fast and efficient. The room was clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom and a pretty good view. The hotel lounge is very comfortable with a very tasteful, modern decor. They was a buffet style breakfast and evening meal which had a good selection and good quality. There was also the facilities to make yourself pancakes at 3pm which was a really nice touch. All in all we did not need to eat out in Bergen during our stay which was an advantage as Bergen is soooo expensive! The location of this hotel is also excellent, right on the harbour in Brygann and walking distance to all the tourist traps. All in all for a short stay this is a really god hotel and I would not hesitate to book again.

Great hotel for touring in the Old Town of BergenPosted Jun 13, 2013
Pros: (1.) Waterfront location in Bryggen/Old Town; (2.) Included evening buffet meal. Restaurants are expensive & can easily cost $50 to $100 per person.
Cons: Hotels (even new ones) in Norway generally do not have air conditioning. However, by opening the windows there was plenty of cool fresh air.
Location: The best location in Bergen on the waterfront in the Bryggen/Old Town area.
The hotel has the best location in Bergen. It is relatively new (hotel renovation & reconstruction completed in 2006) and the rooms and facilities reflect this newness. It is a very modern and very clean hotel. The dining room where the breakfast and evening buffets are served was large, spacious, new, and very clean. Even at peak dining periods there were plenty of tables and open seating spaces. The food was excellent and abundant. There were a large number of kitchen and wait staff constantly replenishing the food and cleaning the tables, etc. This is the best location in Bergen and most of the major tourist sites are within easy walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is right on the waterfront of the Old Town area. It is probably slightly more expensive than some other hotels in Bergen, but when one considers the excellent location and included meals, it is a excellent choice. Restaurants in Norway are very expensive since the dollar is very weak compared to the Norwegian kroner. A "middle of the road" restaurant can easily cost $50 to $100 per person, so the included or fee free dinner buffet can really save some money. Most other hotel chains in Norway do not offer the free or included dinner buffet. Taxis are also expensive (minimum charge is approximately $20 for a very short ride) so being able to walk to major tourist sites (many are within three or four blocks of the hotel) can also save time and money.
