    Pocket Guide: Samoa

Samoa offers western travelers the ideal South Pacific tropical beach vacation at very reasonable prices. Each of the ten islands have special environments to explore. Rain forests filled with tropical flowers cover volcanic peaks on the two main islands, and coastlines consist of white-sand beaches. In the valleys, banyan trees rise over the rain forest and waterfalls crash into the rivers at the valley floors.

Samoa lies south of the equator in Polynesia approximately halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii. Savai'i and Upolu are the largest islands in Samoa, and both the capital city of Apia and the Faleolo International Airport are located on Upolu.

Samoa has two seasons: wet and dry. The rainy season runs from November through April. The average annual temperature in Samoa is nearly 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The best time to travel to Samoa is during the dry season, although it may be more difficult to find cheap hotel deals in Samoa during the peak tourism seasons.

Samoa hotels range from the super luxurious to rooms in a backpacker discount hostel. Travelers can book nights in a traditional Samoan beachfront fale. Fales are open-walled dwellings with palm-frond roofs. They come only with a bed and mosquito netting for the true Samoan experience.

Some of the interesting Samoa hotel deals include stays overlooking the south coast of Upolu, near the base of Mt. Vaea and close to the lagoon where the first Polynesian migrants landed on Samoan ground.

Some of the finest Samoa hotel packages cater to surfing and sun-worshiping fanatics. Other travelers enjoy sport fishing, diving, and snorkeling in the lagoons and coral reefs of Samoa. Hotels in Samoa enjoy some of the most pristine white-sand beaches in the world.

Travelers who enjoy a cheap Samoa hotel deal should sample some of the islands' affordable luxuries. Visit the wetland sanctuary at Satoalepai Village on Savai'i, and swim with the green turtles. Travelers can even find great rates at a Samoan spa where traditional healers can relieve every stress you have.

    "Great family getaway"
Our Family loved the place, the resort, the staff, the pool, the beach, and the weather were all just simply wonderfull. 50% of the rooms were closed for renovation which was great as the was more pool and beach space for us and there was absolutely no impact of the renovation on our stay - not even a bit of noise. The staff were extremly friendly and did not fail on any request. if I had to nit pick and find fault our air con did not work the best but then we choose to go to a hot country. So why complain about a few minor details when there was so much great about the area. We will certianly return.

    "Relaxing Tropical Paradise!"
Fantastic stay. The fale was clean, comfortable and right on the waters edge. The staff were awesome, couldn't ask for more. Anything you needed was given with a smile and nothing was ever too much trouble. I would say they went the extra mile! I had the privilege of being taken to and welcomed to a local church for a beautiful Christmas eve mass by one of the staff and then had a great night with a few of the other staff at a siva in a nearby village. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, service was quick and always accurate. Island time cocktails were the best.....Mmm strawberry daiquiris! Had a wonderful holiday and I will definitely be back! Thank you :)

    "Lovely resort on the beach"
Exceptional staff, always friendly, helpful and happy to see you. Very accommodating. Fia Fia night was incredible, the best traditional dancing/show I have seen of several nations. The only downfall is how expensive the restaurant food is, but it seems fairly typical of all the resorts. Accommodation brilliant, very laid back, no pretention.

"You don't just go to a resort, you go to Samoa"
The accommodation was a very comfortable 4 star but the experience was 6! This was the best beach resort holiday our family has been on because it was more than just a resort, it was a genuine Samoan experience as well. We immediately wound down to "Island time" on arrival. You could go to dinner in your jandals, however the food was fabulous. They make everything on site right down to the jam on your toast. On 2 occasions we went deep sea fishing and caught a fish large enough to feed 5 adults for lunch and dinner. We also had massages, went snorkelling & did an Island tour. The staff are from local villages, were very friendly & proud of their culture. Definitely recommend
