"Beautiful hotel"
I had no idea about the hotels near the Grand Canyon so I was very happy about our stay at the Grand. The price for the room was very, very low. The hotel is being remodeled but you only see the worker in the morning as you are checking out. The lobby, gift shop and restaurant are wonderful. The room was large and very well appointed. Staff very nice.

"Great rest stop while on Grand Canyon adventure."
I used this hotel the first day after arriving at the Grand Canyon then on the day after which included aggressive day-hiking in the Canyon. That second night, especially, I a got much needed, quiet rest before a hiking trip all the way down into the Canyon for three days. This is a very nice hotel with great staff. Highly recommended.

"Out by itself."
This hotel / casino was located off the interstate about 18 miles east of Flagstaff. Easy to locate but not near anything else. Very nice hotel, upscale, for us anyway. Staff seemed to go out of their way to make sure we liked what they were doing. Many opportunities to let them know if we didn't. Found everything to be very nice. Meals were a little higher than we are used to but we found out about the "unadvertised specials" and then they were more than reasonable. Did not use the casino but did get a players card to use for the specials. Pool / spa located quite a walk down the corridor from main lobby but very nice once you get there.

"Diamond in the rough"
This place is a diamond in the rough compared to the other options around this area. Don't be fooled by the other reviews calling it a truck stop. While it may be a favorite of truckers we didn't notice any trucks around. If you want a very cozy lodge romantic type feel situated in the pines, this is your place. Great real fireplaces in the lobby and in the bar/lounge make a great place to sit with a beverage and read or just relax. The rooms are of vintage decor but are very well kept. If you aren't up for carrying suitcases up stairs we recommend asking for the 1st floor reservation. Dinning was excellent with great food and even gluten free options. Unfortunately things like sugar free jelly were not available however. Overall we loved this place and it is our new Flagstaff favorite.

"Best for the price"
I stayed here last year at the same time. They seem to be doing a bit of construction so parking spaces were limited due to the giant shipping container taking up room in front of the pool. The room was clean, beds comfortable and the hot breakfast was awesome - sausage, eggs, home fries, made to order waffles, most of the time you don't even get that in more expensive hotels. The fitness center was under construction, the pool was closed but it's cold there so I guess that makes sense. Overall, you get $50/night hotel as far as the comfort and look of the room but the breakfast, free wifi and free drinks at the "social hour" really make up for the tiny TV, creaking everything and being across the street from the train tracks.

Where to stay in Grand Canyon

    Grand Canyon Hotel Guide

Travel to the Grand Canyon for both a relaxing and educational vacation. Known worldwide as a natural wonder, the Grand Canyon features amazing waterfalls, the raging Colorado River and steep walls ranging over a mile high. For those interested in one of the most intriguing hikes in the Southwest, the Bright Angel Trail in the upper region is one of the most popular. Experience the surroundings of Ponderosa forests at the trail's onset in South Rim Village. As hikers descend, climate zones emerge as Pinon-Juniper scrub in the middle to Sonoran Desert at the bottom of the upper trail. Consider mule services to aid in carrying packs in or out. Find mule services at most Grand Canyon hotels in this elevated area.

Not only built for views of the horizon, many hotels at the Grand Canyon utilize the natural rock in building design for guests to observe the strata from geological influence over time.

For a more relaxed atmosphere, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is less crowded with more chances to watch Kaibab Mule Deer wandering in and out of picnic or camping areas.
