"This was our first trip to Belize and we stayed for the first half of the week in Placencia. The location was great - very walkable to restaurants, swimming and shopping. We enjoyed the pool and the rooftop sunsets. Fishing from the dock was a big hit with the kids. "Sunset Gecko is the ideal condo for two couples. Lots of room inside and two outside decks to sit and have a drink or read a book. Our group really enjoyed the roof top pool and views. The condo was well equipped for cooking and entertaining. The staff kept the outside tidy and housekeeping did a great job on the inside. The condo is a bit of a walk to get to the sidewalk area and main part of Placencia so we rented a golf cart. This made grocery shopping easier and we were able to explore...

"Beautiful setting with very helpful and pleasant staff. The setting was perfect. We spent many hours sitting on our patio watching the sunrise or just reading. (Bring bug repellent) It is a fifteen minute drive to Placencia Village, so keep that in mind. You will need a golf cart or a car during your stay. "Edwin graciously collected us and drove us by pontoon boat to the other side every day twice a day for walking to shops, meals, and entertainment. The house was quiet, clean and air conditioned. Loved the thatch covered roof top and pool."

"The townhouse was very nice. I guess we missed in the description that you could only go by pontoon to town as this is on an island. Also, make sure you tell your taxi driver to take Sunset Point Road - we don't know where the name Manatee came into place and our taxi wanted to take us to the Manatee Inn which is not the right place."

The grounds and the pool are all beautiful and well maintained. The home was fairly well stocked, though the place says it sleeps 4-6 and there were only enough dishes for 4. Some of the cookware could stand to be replaced. Some of the towels looked a little dirty, but they smelled clean - they probably also need to be replaced but it wasn't horrible. And...

"Worst rental experience ever. Didn't expect much, but description say air conditioning and pool bar. You get nothing of the sort. Local property support was non existent. Walked into a 88 degree room and still waiting for a refund. Ended up walking away and booking a Caribbean Beach Cabanas which was fantastic. This listing has to be a scam."

"This is a very cool little cluster of cabanas and a bar/restaurant on a legit TINY island. The staff is great, the food is decent, and the snorkeling could be better, but overall it was a fun stay. We were the only ones staying on the island, which was pretty cool."
