Beware the separations

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Before considering this place, make sure you understand the lay of the land in the Volcano area, and the bunch of Volcano properties. The properties are scattered and not easy to find. I wouldn't have stayed here with friends who had to stay at a property away from us.

Good value near the volcano

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Location: Very close to HVNP. It is very dark at night and it is easier to arrive in daylight. OK after 1st time and you get given a good map at check in.
There are 9 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in this house - I could always get into a bathroom when I needed to. The shared bathroom on the top floor where I stayed was very nice - well stocked with towels and toiletries. Shower only but it was huge. There is a useful kitchen area on middle floor with a large dining table. Everything very clean. Wifi worked really well. There were extra bed covers and a heater in the room - it did get chilly overnight.

Nice budget accomodation

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: location, value for your money
The place is near the Volcano National Park; so ideal for budget conscious people interested to experience the 'volcano part' of the Big Island, not the beaches. The room is small and bathroom is shared with other people in the same house. However you get a kitchen to cook your meals, if you wish, and you get free high speed internet.

Beauty Beyond Belief

Pros: Our room had a gorgeous views from every window.
Cons: it would have been nice to have a chair in our room, but that is a very minor flaw
Location: This place is the perfect springboard to the natuonal park
It would be difficult to find better lodging in Volcano at the price we paid. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous. The room was clean and the facilitiy had amenities not available in most places.

Great place to experience Volcano

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Exactly what we were looking for. Similar feel to b&b. cute little place with great staff. It isn't a 5 star resort, but it was fantastic for a place to stay. Exceeded expectations!

Nice place to watch a mountain blow it's top.

Posted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: quaint, rustic, and inviting.
Cons: softer bed.
Location: private location, volcano park nearby.. can drive the whole island in one day.
Stayed 6 days to explore the valcano and drive around the big island. The hostel was attractive, shared areas nice and clean, and rooms nice. The shared dining area provided a location to meet the other guests. Met several guests from around the world enjoyed the atmosphere. Overall would stay there again.

Nice king bed. TV worked well. Kitchen immaculate.

Pros: The charm of the beautifully restored building built in 1912.
Cons: Everything was good.
Location: Visit the volcano and Thai Thai Restaurant.
We only had one night. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Staff change our room to ground floor which was wonderful because we had lots of luggage. Clean kitchen. Super place to stay. Very reasonable rates.
