Beautiful beachfront resort, excellent location

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: location, amenities and service
Cons: Minor issues with housekeeping
Location: Excellent location although requires 1.5 hour ride from airport. No need to leave resort, however, shopping nearby. Excursion to Mayfield Farms!
Couples Swept Away is an exceptional, first class all inclusive resort. Our beachfront veranda suite was roomy with very nice balcony patio. Excellent restaurant choices, entertainment every night, and very friendly staff.

Lovely Adults Only All Inclusive

Posted Jul 29, 2015
I found Couples Swept Away by googling "Best All Inclusive Food" and CSA did not not disappoint (and not just on the food!) We may have had one of the "worst" rooms on the resort: our back porch faced the lobby, but we had enough foliage that it wasn't a problem. Honestly, it was nice to be close to that side of the resort and we did not hear too much from the road, especially over the tropical symphony each night. The garden verandah rooms are basic; we decided to stay for longer instead of upgrading our room and I would make that same decision again in a heart beat, especially since we spent the majority of our time out on the beach or (honestly) in the restaurants. A nice thing about the rooms was that they were cleaned twice a day: once with housekeeping and then another tidy with the turn down service. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the room and the new beach towels each night! The food was out of this world. The restaurants, especially Feathers, were amazing. The wait staff is so professional that every dinner was an absolute delight. The beach was beautiful. We loved having the loungers with the floats. We never had an issue with finding a spot, even if we came out later in the day. We did the Black River/YS Falls/Appleton Rum Distillery tour and it was so much fun! Our tour guide, James Taylor, was so amazing and made sure that we were taken care of from the moment we embarked on his van through to the end of the day.

Wonderful place to stay and play. Enjoyed the tennis courts, paddle boards, hobie cats, snorkeling, catamaran, food, and entertainment. They took great care of us and it truly was all inclusive. We did not need a wallet all week.

A Wonderful Vacation

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Slightly larger portions served in the restaurants. Foot washing stations outside buildings to keep sand out of room.
Location: Negril, Jamaica looks better every day. Trash seen along the roads has all but disappeared. And the Negril reefs are now teaming with life.
This was our 2nd time at a Couples Resort. We had such a great time at Couples Negril, we wanted to try out Couples Swept Away (also in Negril). With Couples Resorts you will not be disappointed. Couples features 8 room types but even the least expensive rooms are fantastic, with thick tropical foliage all around. Our spacious room, a Garden Verandah Suite, had a large balcony and a huge bathroom. The staff are fantastic and they will try to fulfill your every need. Have a question? Just ask anyone who works there. If they don't know, they will point you in the right direction. Even the landscaping crew wanted to know if there was anything I needed. The food was top notch and plenty of it. Couples Swept Away has 4 restaurants and 2 grills. There were at least 9 bars and a self-serve Red Stripe tap. The self-serve tap produced nothing but foam while I was there, but it was just a short walk to a bar to get one pulled for me. The resorts boast a quarter mile of beach front that is pretty deep. Plenty of beach front foliage to find shade when needed. The swim area is mostly wade-able with it getting slightly deeper towards the Water Sports at the north end. Beyond is a separate deeper area for doing laps. Sailing, snorkeling, paddleboards, windsurfing, glass bottom boat rides, water skiing, and scuba diving are all included. Tennis players will find lots of courts available and golfers get free green fees. Definitely a vacation worth saving for.

Very Disappointing Visit and Return

Posted Jul 18, 2015
Pros: Food and beach
Cons: Prompt service and courtesy
Location: Really nothing much to see. We did go the the Appleton Rum tour but other than that there's falls to visit, water excursions, zip lining., etc.
My husband and I stayed at CSA to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We were booked from July 11 - July 18. We also purchased trip insurance for $276. We initially thought the hotel was OK and most of the staff seemed friendly. The room wasn't impressive (Ocean View Veranda), especially considering what they charge for it. We had previously stayed at the Valentin all-inclusive in Riviera Maya which is by far nicer than CSA. The initial few days were nice - relaxing on beach and the food was excellent. We didn't eat a meal we didn't like. However, on the Tues of our stay we received a call from family that my father, who had recent heart surgery and who was in the hospital in Philly wasn't doing too well and had taken a turn for the worse. It was suggested we return earlier due to his critical condition so my husband and I tried contacting expedia via phone but weren't successful. We contacted US Airways directly and incurred a total of $800 in charges to change our flights. We were told by the hotel we had a 7 AM bus transportation to airport which is about 2 hours away and to have our luggage outside room at 6 am for pickup. We ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room at 6:30 but it never arrived. Our luggage wasn't picked up either so we rolled it down to the lobby ourselves. When we went to check out we expressed our disappointment to the gentleman in check out and he had this smirk on his face.We tried to get a refund for the 2 days but the hotel denied us.

Wonderful trip. Staff was awesome! Was a big resort and tough to remember where I was going... may have been the rum. Restaurants, piano bar, and excursions were all great. Exceeded expectations.

Rocks!

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Cons: Crack down on people playing the "towel game" with the beach chairs OR offer guests a chance to rent umbrellas. Add protein powder at the juice bar.
Never been to Jamaica before and WOW! We were missing out and the experience with CSA deserves a repeat visit. Staff were nearly all great (even the best places you can encounter one or tow having a bad day), food was excellent but portions are more "euro" minded (i.e. overfed fast-food Americans will be looking for double the portions) however you can always ask for more, and the beach was great. If you keep in mind this is a BEACH resort in Jamaica and everything isn't in the shape that you'd find at the Waldorf, your expectations will be met or exceeded.
