Nice staff, reasonably clean, basic, noisy area.

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Cons: Bedding (blanket) cleanliness. Air quality in the room (better enforcement of smoking rules? Mold/mildew check?)
Location: It's across from a shopping plaza with a K-mart and at least one bar-restaurant. It's also close to the shops at Northern Lights Mall (right next to).
I was thrilled to find a room at the Red Carpet for $50 on a Sunday night! The man at the desk was very pleasant and professional. The room itself was reasonably clean; the blanket on the bed looked a bit dirty, but I'm one of those folks who brings my own blankets and pillows, so it came off. The pillow on the bed was pancake-flat and wouldn't have been comfortable anyway. Although I specified non-smoking, the room had a slightly musty, old cigarette smoke smell. It set off my allergies immediately, so I suspect there may have been some mold issues as well. Luckily I had allergy medicine and the room had a glass slider, so I was able to air it out pretty well. Had that not been the case, I probably would have asked to move. The location is a bit noisy. It's on a well-traveled road and across from a shopping plaza. When I arrived, there was a very loud cover band playing a bar across the street and a fair amount of traffic noise. Both dissipated by 10 or so. There was a microwave in the room and satellite TV with a very limited number of stations. TV screen quality wasn't great. The water in the shower was hot and had good pressure. So, while this was hardly a luxury hotel, I was able to make do and was very happy with the price I got on my last-minute booking. I may look around for other options my next trip to Syracuse, but I'd consider staying here again if I couldn't find anything better at this price point.

Affordable, easy to find

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: proximity to event I was attending, easy to find a good diner, across from the goodyear dealer (which my friends needed), nearby shopping.
Cons: I never got connected to their wi-fi
I was assigned the same room I had on my last visit, and they knew that!

The best motel during our recent trip to the US

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: Nil
Location: Quiet corner of Syracuse but close to mall and restaurants.
Excellence in every sense: cleanliness, room facility, size of room. We'll run and maintained. Highly recommended.

"Tired" hotel near the airport.

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: It was close to the airport.
Cons: I don't know about the beds in the other rooms but the one in my room should have been replaced a LONG time ago.
Location: Ten minutes from the airport.
This hotel is very close to the airport but the facility is very "tired". It's old and had not been kept up very well. I have never tried to sleep in a more uncomfortable bed. We had reservations for two nights but canceled after the first night.

Location next to Airport

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Location next to airport
Cons: "Continental Breakfast" was a box of donuts and an urn of coffee on a ledge beside the office window. And this spread was only available until 9 am...
Only useful if you need a cheap bed as close as possible to the airport.

Convenient on low budget

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: It's in a convenient location
Cons: The part of the hotel I stayed in needs some TLC.
Location: It's convenient to the interstate, and just a mile or two from a shopping/restaurant area of town.
This hotel has several buildings, but the one I stayed in was older, a little banged up and a bit musty smelling. It's very convenient to the interstate and area attractions. There are a few restaurants just across the street.

Old and run down

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Desperate need of updating. The motel is old and run down. The shower had mold the rugs were tattered and there was food on the wall. We checked in early, which we appeciated. However, our room as was not done being cleaned. Staff entered the room without knocking (door was open) and opened the bathroom door on me. I had just finished my business and was surprised! When I addressed the staff he did not speak English! The situation was completely inappropriate!
