The Fairmont San Francisco

Loved it!

This was a beautiful place to stay! My only comment would be to check on the price of the valet parking garage before you leave your car, you might be able to find a less expensive place to park.

A great experience for our first time in San Francisco!

We were totally impressed with our experience at the Fairmont in San Fran. The staff were so professional and helpful beyond expectation. This hotel exudes luxury from the minute you walk in the door. Our room was very spacious, sparkling clean, and comfortable with inviting decor. The only negative was that our room was very hot (a corner room with large windows on each side) and the air conditioning didn’t cool the temperature enough for our liking. All in all, we loved our visit and would not hesitate to stay at the Fairmont again. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one!

Georgeous old SF charm. Updated, rooms, high ceiling, wonderful lobby. Top of Nob Hill, steep hills, good exercise.

Burma Superstar

Will only stay here on my return to San Francisco.

Everything about this hotel is 5 star from the bellmen to the housekeepers. Our room was available when we checked in @ 12:30pm and house limo was available at no charge in place of taxis any time after 6:00pm. The conceierge was most helpful in local recomedations as well as out of the area suggestions. There are other places in the hotel area for breakfast instead of the pricy restaurant in the hotel. I am looking forward to my next visit at the Fairmont.

My wife and I were extremely pleased with the hotel.The cable car stop was right outside the hotel. Pay a little extra and get a room with a view. We had a beautiful view of the bay. The rooms in the main building are not well insulated so there can be some noise from the next room. It happened once. We called the desk and the noise stopped within 5 minutes. The employees of the hotel were very helpful in arranging tours and answering questions. The lobby is gorgeous. There is complementary coffee and tea every morning. We recommend this hotel highly.

It was wonderful to be in an old hotel in tiptop condition. We appreciated all the marble. It looked sparkling and grand.

ILOCP#1

ILOCP stands for In Lieu Of Christmas Presents a new family tradition whereby my wife and I take one of our 3 married children and their spouse on an extravagant all expenses paid vacation instead of lavishing them with Christmas presents. San Francisco was our first annual event and having stayed at the Fairmount on Maui and receiving amazing personal service the Fairmount on Nob Hill was an immediate choice for us. Sadly our timing was not good as the Fairmount was host to the Presidents Cup Golf Tournament during our stay and we pretty much got lost in the celebrity shuffle. Beautiful hotel, rooms with a fabulous view (upcharge) and great location but I seriously doubt I will stay at the Fairmount in San Francisco again; I may not be a celebrity but at Fairmount prices I expected to be feel like one during my stay there. I was just a tourist and that is how I was regarded by the entire staff. Maybe I will go back when I’m famous............nah!

We had dinner at the North Beach Cafe, Gary Danko, Top of the Mark, Butterfly and Sutrows at the Cliff House. Gary Danko was top rated but disappointing, North Beach Cafe was a wonderul dining experience, Butterfly was unique and the entrees were beautifully presented as well as delicious, Top of the Mark has a view but their prefix menu was common and unremarkable. Our meal (late lunch) at Sutrows at the Cliff House was my favorite, each entree was a burst of flavor and the service was friendly and attentive and the view ain’t bad either.

Comfortable mattress, great flat screen TV, and service whenever you asked for it.

Fantastic experience

Could not have been better even though the weather was terrible (biggest rainfall in many years one day). The reservation was handled promptly and professionally and the hotel was exceptional in all respects. We will definitely be back.

Tops in Nob Hill!

Loved this hotel and the location was perfect for us. We wer eonly a block away from our friend’s apartment and cute restaurants nearby. Not far from Union Square...walking distance so shopping is nearby!

Fair stay at The Fairmont

This hotel was lovely if you’re into historic places. However, our toilet was clogged the entire stay even though the staff tried to fix it. They were nice enough to comp our room service for the inconvenience. Great location; convenient to restaurants, sights, etc.

Very elegant and upscale

Beautiful location, very glamorous lobby, beautiful room, comfortable bed, elegant linens. The hotel has a fun, retro bar and restaurant called the Tonga Room, in a 60s Polynesian style with periodic "rainstorms" and a band that floats into a pool in the middle of the restaurant. This restaurant is surprisingly reasonable, whereas the restaurant in their lobby is quite pricey, although that is to be expected in a hotel of this caliber.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you don’t mind walking up and down big hills, this hotel is nicely located. We walked to Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, Little Italy and Union Square from this location.

Perfect!

This was our second visit in just under 6 months. First visit was wonderful, this latest visit was even better! We were celebrating an anniversary and desk staff upgraded us from the main building to an 11th floor tower room overlooking the financial district. Very comfy king bed, separate shower with great water pressure including instant hot water. We really like the central location, easy to walk down hill to the different areas, then an easy cable car ride back up. This will always be our first choice on return visits.

Traveler's tip

If you take the cable car up to the hotel, or walk up the steep hill from Union Sq/Chinatown, you can cut thru the hotel parking lot or the coffee shop to reach the hotel elevators--those uphill climbs are a workout!

Great hotel for people who like exclusive treatment. Staff are generally very helpful, and profesional. Would love to stay there again next time.

Good Stay

The hotel is in a great location and has a beauitful view. The rest of the hotel was average. The service was helpful if asked but seemed understaffed at times. Due to it’s great location and comfortable bed I would stay their again.

Parking Expense

The charge for parking our rental car cost more than the rental car! I think the hotel should reveal the cost of parking up front, but then they wouldn’t have many guests stay there.

San Francisco

Fairmont San Francisco is a beautiful hotel and the room was awesome. However, it appears that the cleaning staff is not properly trained to clean the rooms: daily cleaning was limited to changing the towels and replacing the toiletries. The floors were never vacuumed, the dust was everywhere and our bathroom sink was never cleaned for all 4 days during our stay. This is such a shame considering that you pay extra to be in a 4 start hotel suite!
