Very impressed

Service wasn’t five star but the location, the rooms and the amenities compensated for the lack of good service.

You have to Dine at the St Regis restaurant, it’s been endorsed by one of the best French chefs.

Great stay

We had a great 4 day stay at the St. Regis. We have stayed at many of the luxury collection hotels in the past and have always been pleased. We got a wonderful room for a great price, especially considering we were staying at a 5 star hotel. The service was impeccable. The greeters and doormen knew us by name. The hotel is very convenient to the subway system but at night, if you have no sense of direction and get lost easily, it can be a little scary because DC has so many homeless people...everywhere. The location was very convenient to all the tourist attractions. It would have been even better if it hadn’t rained our entire stay. We would definitely consider staying here again if we were to visit dc again.

Went to a wonderful restaurant during our stay...DC Coast. Wonderful food and ambiance.

Great location near the White House

The hotel was amazing, and the location couldn’t be better. The restaurant service, however, was horrific. We went for breakfast on our first day, waited for ever for service although it was pretty empty. When the bill came, they charges us a large party fee, (there were 6 of us) of almost $40.00. the breakfast bill was stagering and the food nothing to write home about. When we asked to speak to the manager, the feloow that was supposed to be tending our table said he was the manager; that was the end of that!!! Other than that, the hotel and the staff were great.

Not a 5 Star

I would not qualify this hotel as 5 Star, for a 5 Star hotel the bathroom was small. No room to move around. It was very disappointing. Only thing we liked was the bed it was comfortable.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Very close to most of the attraction, you can walk everywhere. Metro is very close. You can take cab from airport, they have metro right from the airport and the metro station from hotel is less than 5 minutes walk.

Location, service and embiance. I have found my DC hotel... St. Regis, the best!

St. Regis is a lovely hotel. The location is perfect... 2 blocks from the White House and close to many attractions of interest. The decor is exquisite. My room was awesome. TV in the bathroom mirror so cool. Bed extremely comfy-cosey. The service is beyond reproach. They met and exceeded all of my needs and expectations. I was a very pampered guest for sure. I have found "my" DC hotel.... St. Regis is the best!

Superb hotel if you get the right room

Recently stayed for three nights at the end of summer before Labor Day with my son to tour Washington DC.. This elegant older hotel with great location was doing some maintenance work on its driveway and had the entrance closed two of those days. Initial impression was disappointment with a dour room and shown equally depressing rooms with half windows on the same (8th floor), despite descriptions of Palladian windows for the rooms I had reserved. After viewing from the outside, I requested a 7th floor room that was elegant with better decor and light and very pleased. The service was quietly discreet but excellent. Concierege knowledgeable and excellent- she called and found the one restaurant in DC serving "she crab soup" that I had craved for several decades. Would stay if you can get the right rooms. The depressing color scheme and decor of the 8th floor rooms is a mystery to me.

Traveler's tip on dining

the hotel restaurant Adour is superb if on the pricey side. Nicely spaced tables, exquisite food, great presentation and service. Similarly elegant breakfast for a price.

Great Hotel!!!

The St. Regis is a beautiful, elegant hotel located in an excellent location near Lafayette Park and the White House. The place is pristine, has every convenience, and the staff was attentive. yes, it is a wonderful alternative to the nearby Hay Adams. Oh, I nearly forgot to add that the restaurant is FANTASTIC!!!

An elegant location, just two blocks from the White House

Well appointed and all the details thought of. If you have meetings at White House, Treasury, State Department, etc, this is a fabolous location.

Terrible Service

The parking attendants and front door men were the most rudest and obnoxious people you can ever come across. It’s a terrible shame such a prestigious hotel has to find such low quality staff to be the first to meet and greet its guests every time you leave and return to the hotel. Some managers just hire anyone.

Excellent location!!!

The hotel is 1.5 blocks away from the White House. The hotel is located perpendicular to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. When you step out from the hotel, you can see the White House directly to your left. We felt very safe knowing we were only a hundred yards from the White House. Everything is within walking distance, and there is also a metro stop around the corner from the hotel. You can catch a ride to Arlington Cemetery and other sites outside D.C. The hotel staff was amazing and very helpful to point out key things to do and see while in the city. I do recommend that you request an iron and iron board. The rooms do not come with any. The staff brought one to my room upon request at no charge. I tipped the guy though. Overall, we loved our time staying at this hotel. We were also in town during the White House Correspondent Dinner, and People & Time magazine was having a pre-party at our hotel, and we got to see several celebrities walking through the hotel lobby... very cool. The staff treated us the same, and we never felt less. I highly recommend this hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Take the metro to get around the city. It’s cheaper than cabs and very safe. Standard fare was 1.35 per person. The price goes up depending on how fare you go, but you can add fare to your metro card when exiting the station.

Quality of service in question

With a prestigious rating of 5 stars, we thought this would be the best hotel we have ever visited. The appearance and facility was impressive, but the service questionable. They were friendly and personable, but the housekeeping service could not be rated as a 5 star hotel. With record heat during the 5 days, the bed was setup for winter. We had them change the comforter, but each day they would take off the lighter linens and put back the winter ones. There were not adequate glasses, and they would not change them if they had been used. You had to request everything through housekeeping, a hairdryer, ice, glasses, etc. Our TV kept cutting in and out. These are little things, but you don’t expect them at a 5 star hotel. It is a great location for DC, easy to get around and see the city.

Wonderful-beautiful hotel-close to the White House

The hotel is beautiful and the staff was very friendly and informative. I was disappointed that there was a fee to connect to the internet.

Be prepared to pay extra to connect to the internet. They do have free coffee in the Lobby every morning.

Nice location

Service in the restaurnt in the Hotel on Sunday was horrible- not enough staff. The manager was unresponsive to waiting guests. Many just walked away without ever being approached by staff. food was good when it came. ! manager 2 waiters. the busboy showed up at noon- The worst service I have seen in a hotel with this type of rating.

Beautiful lobby and very friendly staff

The St. Regis Hotel was very elegant. We saw several celebrities in or near the hotel so to me that indicates it is very popular. Even though it is an upscale hotel, it was very affordable booked through the Expedia website.

One of Wahingtons’s best hotels

I loved the location and the service in this hotel. Everyone from the chek-in person, to the doorman, to the concierge my expectations were surpassed. Will definately stay again!

Comfort & location

Stayed here in a vacation package. A good deal for the price. Similar prices were at much lower quality hotels. This is a business boutique hotel, but we felt comfortable here as tourists. The room, service, concierge were great. The location is just north of the White House, between two metro stops, and on the Circulator route (easy access to Georgetown and the Mall for a $3 day pass. Avoid dinners at Tourist places (Clydes, Ebbitt Grill and Harry’s were packed but the food was mediocre). Better selections at Filomena’s and stopping in the local bistros and cafes. Would love to go back.

Great location in Washington DC - near White House

Loved the hotel and location. The location gave us the options we needed to travel the city without a car. I would suggest that coffee be served in the lobby. My other suggestion is for free Wi-fi for hotel quests.

A hotel with classic elegance

Loved everything about the hotel. Beautiful and cozy bar/lounge. Only one item would have been great - in our room it seemed we couldn’t control the temperature. It was too warm for sleeping @ night.
