First Visit to the Keys

Staff was incredibly accommodating, especially when our Island View Suite faced trees that covered our balcony, no view at all. This was our anniversary. Evelyn went out of her way to show us other rooms we could pick from. We were upgraded and treated to a complimentary cheese and cracker tray in our room. DJ and Ricardo at the pool are top notch; they are entertaining, hospitable and helpful. Yes, the food and drinks are very pricey here. Avoid them; bar made the worst drinks I ever had. Louie’s right next door is an incredible experience, amazing food and great drinks. Probably the best Key Lime Pie I ever had there at Louie’s. Dinner at Latitudes on Sunset Key is a once in a lifetime experience. We landed when Hurricane I was also visiting, but the town still provided a relaxing and fun experience. The Reach is a beautiful resort.

I agree with those who talk about the ridiculous cost for food and drink at Reach. We asked for 2 bottles of water by the pool: 12 bucks. Drinks at the bar were awful. What were they using? Don’t miss Louie’s Backyard, Martin’s and great breakfast around the corner at Southernmost Cafe, beautifully situated on the beach. Blue Heaven is also a great breakfast experience. Staff at Reach is absolutely outstanding, especially the guys at the pool.

Can’t wait to go back. Very clean and accommodating, head of housekeeping brought us to our room and made sure everything was o.k. Perfect for walking to Southernmost point & Duval street. Rooftop patio for viewing the sunset was great. Sister hotel Casa Marina was in walking distance very nice grounds, outdoor lounge and restaurant ...may look into for next time.

Good place for breakfast is the Banana Cafe in walking distance maybe 2 blocks from hotel down Duvall St.

Excellent Stay

The hotel was very nice, room was clean and excellent. Employees were courteous and attentive. Good location. I would definetely go back to this hotel.

I have been there during different times of the year, but Fantasyfest in October is the best !

Liked the old REACH better

Quiet for Fantasy Fest , in the past more like a party . No Hot tub any longer . No air conditionig for the first day . The bed was a hotel plush ,great if you like that mattress but I’m more of a firm kind of guy .Overall upgarded facilty very nice , staff very helpful . New Restaurant very quiet not many Dinners and very Pricey .

We had such a great time in the Keys! The hotel was a perfect place to start the day and the perfect day to end it! The entire staff was friendly and attentive. The staff at the beach went above and beyond for every request! I would stay at this hotel over and over again!

i would have loved to stay forever

It was the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. People were every nice and helpful. When I had problems with the room they fixed it. The view outside my room, I paid extra for, was not to my expectations but they did not have any other room, (I was right by a roaring airconditioner).

NICE PLACE. VERY SATISFIED. FRIENDLY STAFF. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS HOTEL RESTAURANT WAS TOO PRICEY. I THINK THEY COULD AT LEAST PROVIDE COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE. $10.00 FOR 2 CUPS OF COFFEE IS A BIT MUCH.

Recommend? Yes, but...

Upon arrival, we had been told (by the hotel) to let them know we were newlyweds and they’d give us the nicest room available. But when we arrived, the person who greeted us acted like she wasn’t aware of this and just gave us the room we were already booked for. So much for that. I was disappointed but we moved on. Our room, as it turned out, wasn’t "Ocean Front" nor "Ocean View." When we looked out, we faced the opposite side of the hotel. Yippie. We’ve stayed in Aruba at the Tamarijn and every single room is OCEAN VIEW. And since we’d asked for that, we expected it. SO much for that. The hotel was nice but not oh-la-la. THe room was the nicest part although our room needed a touch-up in the paint department. Also, the shower leaked every time we used it. It actually caused a flood that lead into the entranceway. The only service issue we had durign the stay was having one of the maid just walk into our room. Apparently she left something behind, or so she thought. She didn’t knock. Just walked right in. Luckily we were both dressed. I can’t say I us returning to Key West, but if we did, I’d check out some other places first before returning here.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t buy food & drinks at this hotel. Breakfast buffet for 2 was $47! Instead, take a walk to the corner & check out Ana’s Cuban Café (breakfast for 1/2 the price). 2 drinks at pool cost $28! Instead, check out Louis’s Backyard. If you’re at the beach area, walk through white gate & down dirt path. At end of the path, look to your right. You’ll see a narrow walkway. It leads to an outside bar on water. The drinks are cheaper there. Dinner there is fabulous too.

my husband and i came to the resort for our honeymoon and were very pleased. i have been to cancun twice and my husband has not traveled to any "tropical" area. we are planning on coming back before he deploys in january, so he can have more great memories while he is defending our freedom!

Room was not clean for a 4-star resort. Carpets and couch had major stains, not impressed at all.

The hotel was very nice on the outside, and pool was nice, except that it needed more umbrellas. The main problem we had with the hotel was that the room was not very clean. The carpet had major stains on it and the couch did as well. The couch also had hair all over it! I als disagree with having to pay a parking fee on top of the room charges. The ice machine was not very convenient( a long walk to get to it) and was almost always empty of ice. Good location, but just a shame at how unclean it was. Showers are also nothing to write home about. Usually 4-star resorts have very nice showers and bathrooms. We’ll not be going back and will not recommend this to anyone.

Lots of cultures at the hotel that don’t really respect the others around them. ONe family let their 10-12 year old daughter run around the pool and all over without a top on. I would never let my daughter do this at any age. Rooms not very clean, major stains on the carpet and couch(couch had hair all over it as well).Restaurant not family oriented(pics of naked bodies all over) and waaaaaaaaay overpriced!

Nice location, Quiet

Overall I was very satisfied and would go back there. It is a little far from the main part of town, a little too long for walking but a short taxi ride. Nice little beach.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Buy drinks and snacks at the deli a block away. To get down to the other end of Duval St. take a taxi, we used Key Lime Cab ask for Freda, best price.

Nice place

Hotel overall is a very fine hotel. The oceanview suite we had was very nice. My only complaint was that i left my room service dishes outside my room one night afte eating and they weren’t picked up for almost 24 hours.

First off, go to the deli down the street and get all your water, beer and snacks there. Abbondanza was a great italian restaurant that wasn’t expensive. For lunch and breakfast, Camille’s was excellent. We did try a cuban restaurant called el siboney which was very good. You got a lot of food for your money there. And for happy hour, Alonzo’s Oyster bar. Drinks and apps were half price. We also used Fury for parasailing and snorkeling.

The property and grounds were beautiful. Pool and private beach were well maintained. They charge a per nite resort fee, but there was no laundry or store on site. The pool/beach concierge does deliver popsicles, drink samples, and frozen towels but it is only once per day-not on demand. The food at the restaurant was good, but pricey. The rooms are nice with nice views. Location of the hotel is perfect for anything you want to do in Key West. Overall, a great place to stay.

Renting a bike at $8 per day is the perfect way to get around the island. Two Friends Patio Restaurant for breakfast, Camille’s for lunch, and Duffy’s for Dinner are real treats. The Aquarium, Original Ghost Tour, and Mel Fisher Museum are great things to do.

Wonderful

This is the hotel we stayed at for our honeymoon. I had reservations about staying in this hotel after reading some not so good reviews. But we are SO glad we picked this hotel. It was wonderful!! We came in on the fast ferry and arrived about an hour before check-in. And were able to check-in after about waiting for 15 minutes. The room was great. We had amazing view over the pool and out into the ocean. The food and drinks were a little pricey, but if you are at the pool they have drink and food specials each day which are very reasonable. The pool guys were awesome! And the wait staff was very good also. And I definitely recommend trying the Strip House’s 24 layer chocolate cake. It’s huge. So plan to share! This hotel is also close to Duval Street. It’s on the quiet side of Duval, but it’s not a that bad of a walk to the busy side of Duval Street. I would recommend staying here and we will stay here if we head back to Key West. It’s a beautiful hotel and wonderful staff.

Great Place

Overall just a great place. NOt the most accomodations, no room service, not a lot of the high end stuff associated with 5 stars, but the place is exceelnt. Clean, big rooms, great pool, great beach, great fitness room. Nothing negative to say.

Nice place, but look out !!!

First off we like this hotel. Once we got there everything was great.The staff were very nice and helpfull,rooms were great, nice little beach and pool. Not far from Duval st just a little walk. The problem was our flight was postponed numerous times and eventually cancelled. The cancellation was at 2:00 am. We called the hotel and they had already cancelled our reservations, 4 hours after our original arrive time.This was the first chance we had to call them. The hotel wasn’t going to help us at all. But we called Expedia and we got our room back. We still lost our money for one night. This was completely out of our control. RIDICULUS!!!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Rent a scooter! Renting a car would be a waste of money. They have bikes,scooters and electric cars.Also you can get a ride from the trolly,ect.

The other side of Key West

The hotel was very nice and quiet. The view from the restaurant patio of the grounds and beach area was more like being on a quiet Carribean Island than a few blocks from the craziness of old town Key West. The room was extremely spacious and in very good repair. The balcony was also quite large. I would go back there next year if I had the chance. The on site available (extra charge) Wave Runner tour around the Island was awsome. We like to walk, so the 15 minute walk in the pleasant weather to where most of the bars and restaurants are was enjoyable to us.

Loved it!

The hotel room was very nice and the beach was great! I would definetely go back. The only issue we had was the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night 3 nights in a row, not a very pleasant wake up. However the hotel credited us some charges we billed to the room so that made up for it.

Hit the happy hour specials during the week. Alonzos Oyster Bar had 1/2 price drinks and apps 4-7.

Best Hotel in Key West

I recently stayed at the Reach Hotel with my husband in May of 2009. We had never been to Key West so we were unsure of any of the hotels in the area and where the best place to stay would be. We chose the Reach because it is one of the only hotels that had a pool and a beach. Though we never went to the beach we thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The staff was great!!! Hotel is super clean!!! Most of all....you are away from the hussle and bussle of Duval Street but yet you can ge there in 5 minutes when you want to enjoy it. Key West is so small that you can literally get to everything within minutes. A two minute walk from the hotel is a great place to rent pedal bikes for $5.00 a day! You can get everywhere in minutes! Stay at the Reach and you will not regret it.

Beautiful Beach Front View

We were pleased with our experience at the "Reach" and would stay there again. The one thing that was a bit of a pain, was the very small parking spaces in the garage. If you have a mid size car, you will have to stop and turn several times before you will get into the space. And if you have a Cadillac or pick up, forget it.
