Clean motel in a decent area for cheap

This motor inn is not in the very center of the city, but is nearby using public transportation. The hotel has free parking and free wifi access, something you would normally pay for in other hotels. The room was immaculately clean and the proprietors friendly and quite helpful.

Nob Hill Motor Inn - a good experience.

This is a nice older hotel in the heart of SF. I had requested a handicapped accessible room and was provided with one. Check-in and out was an old-fashioned experience from having to fill out the little card with your automobile make & license #. All-in-all a nice experience. Room was absolutely spotless which is always appreciated. Fridge, microwave, coffeemaker excellent. I would not call the "continental breakfast" anything close to being that however. It was instant coffee or cocoa with small single packaged breakfast pastries. No fruit, milk or juices... For the reasonable room price however, I can definitely live with that.

Best Deal in San Francisco

If you have a car, the Nob Hill Motor Inn is about the best deal going. The daily room rate is impressively low but the free (compare to up to $60/day) parking really makes it. Not only is the parking free but it is wonderfully convenient. Your car is right on the ground floor ready to go. No waiting for hotel staff to dig your car out of an underground lot and expecting tips. Just there ready to go. The Inn is very clean and very quiet. The neighborhood, Russian Hill, is nice, not super touristy, with some interesting restaurants and shops. Fisherman’s Warf and all that are an easy 10 minute walk away. I have stayed there twice and would stay there again.

No towel at night

I was so mad when we stay in this hotel. We were four people at that time and stayed for 2 nights there. When we came to the room after looking around a town, we found that there were only towels for 2 people by a mistake of maid service. So, we went to the office to get 2 more towels. However, what the manager told me made me so mad and ridiculous so much. He said " no towels here, so we can’t offer those now but give it tomorrow." I arged a couple of times with him and did persuation to get only 2 towels. They didn’t give any try. Finally, two of us couldn’t take a shower at night and slept with a sweaty body.

Nice Location...& More

This hotel is located in Pacific avenue near by Pork street which has a lot of good restaurants. And this hotel provides free-parking,internet access, breakfast. Also I think this hotel has been well-managed and especially good for family/couple tour.

Best value around

I stayed here for business, so took my wife back on anniversary. The free parking is worth its weight in gold. Nothing fancy here, but the rooms are clean and comfy and did I mention the free parking? I remembered that my TV had a DVD player built in, so I brought DVD’s to watch this time around. To my disappointment, the TV we were given had a built in VCR. Honestly, who watches VHS tapes anymore? A TV upgrade is needed, but this is not a huge deal. I love this place and will be back.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Walk down to Chinatown. You’ll be amazed at the unique variety in some of the gift stores that appear at first to be just another souvineer shop. Try China Bazaar at Grant and Sacramento streets.

Great little place.

I stayed two nights at this little hotel and was very satisfied with it. The husband and wife who own the place are extremely welcoming and helpful. Provided us with maps and highlighted areas of intrest for us. Our room was clean and was surprisingly nice for the price we paid. Its close to local bus stops so getting around town is easy and within a nice walking distance of the piers. My only complaint is the parking is a little tight but its free!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Make sure you take the bus and trollies to various attractions. Its a lot cheaper than driving yourself if you get a daily or 3 day pass. Plus yu get the chance to look around and sight-see easier.

Convenient and Clean

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco near major tourist attractions, public transportation, and there are plenty of stores and good affordable restaurants all around. There was plenty of free parking, which was nice since we were traveling by car. The owners and staff are nice and it was better than I expected. The motel itself is a little old but everything was clean and worked. I would stay there again.

It’s ok

Good for 1-2 nights. Close to the Lombard St, Pier 39, Civic Center. Free parking. The room was clean but a smell of old room was everywhere. The guest was very kind to show us on the map all the attractions even the areas to avoid. The breakfast is just a coffee or a tea.

great place for a family vacation, awesome hotel!

We stayed here on our family vacation and it was the best hotel for a family of four we could find. The price was great and it worried it us at first, but be assured that you are getting a great room. We stayed in a family suite which has 1 room with a king bed, couch, table, tv, etc and another room with 2 queen beds. It was very roomy and clean. The owners were the best and answered all of our touristy questions. The elevator is quite small so we just took the stairs but it was a small price to pay for a great hotel. We did not have a car but there is free parking there which is great because many other places charge insane prices. Also, the beds are very comfortable which I did not expect. Overall, this hotel was perfect for us and we would definitely stay again!

There is a walgreens very close by (just take a left out of the hotel and cross polk street and stay on that side of the street. Go down about a block and its on the right.) If you need your coffee like I do there is also a starbucks if you take a left out of the hotel, stay on the left side of polk st. It is about 2 blocks down. Also, the #19 bus stop is across polk street. That bus can take you pretty close to the wharf as well as other places.

Comfortable City Hotel

For a city center hotel we were pleased to find one that did not charge a third of the rate in parking fees. The manager was friendly, helpful and answered all our questions. The room had all we needed and it was very roomy.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

This hotel provides free parking. Most hotels in the area charge between $24 & $30 a day for parking your car. Hotel is within easy access of the pier and many tourists sites.

Inexpensive stays in SF

This hotel is not a luxury place, and not the most centrally located hotel. It’s more like a motel (which, thankfully, includes free parking). The rooms are a decent size, the room and bath are clean, the beds are reasonably comfortable. For the last-minute price I paid, it was extremely reasonable.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Good restaurants, pharmacy, grocery, etc., can be found one street over on Polk. Walking from the hotel can be a hike to most destinations. If you have Google Maps available, use it to decode the Muni bus system--Google maps will tell you where to catch it, what bus to take, etc. Makes life much more convenient.

Good Location

The Nob Hill Motel was a great place to stay because of the great location in San Francisco. It is located near many of the good sites to see around San Fran and are basically walking distance. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was small, but something non the less. Free parking helped a lot too. Overall I feel that it was a great place to stay.

Greater satisfaction than expected

We stayed for 3 days. Almost everything was OK. The only problem was on some parking places, where water was dropping on the cars ! Otherwise we enjoy the services, available in hotel.

Absolutely GREAT find!

We were only going to be in San Francisco for one night before driving up north, and we weren’t going to get in town til very late (after 11p). So I wasn’t giving the hotel too much thought. We just needed a place to crash and reboot. But this hotel was absolutely wonderful. I don’t require much but a clean, warm room. We were able to park our car, and go right up, the room was clean, warm, and very comfortable. The lady at the front desk overnight was super sweet and friendly. Everytime I’d ask a question she’d say (with a big ol’ smile) "YES, it’s our job!" which then became our catchphrase for the rest of our trip. The room was well stocked with coffee supplies. It was quiet all night, the beds were super comfortable. Everything was smooth as silk (check-in, and out, etc) The next day we were able to leave our luggage there while we went traipsing around the city. The owners even helped us choose places to go, and ways to get there. They were lovely people. And it had to be best deal for the money hands down.

Traveler's tip

"Happy Donut" on the corner right by the hotel has GREAT hazelnut coffee ;)

In good condition

Well taken care of. Free parking! Very secure. We’d definitely stay here on our next trip to San Francisco. The location is great - local restaurants and a local atmosphere. It’s close to the Muni bus lines, and easy to get to and from the sights of San Francisco. I’d recommend it!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

You’ll save money here, but have a clean, well taken care of place to stay.

Very Nice Place

This is a very nice place and reasonably priced. It is in a great location with a lot of restaurants nearby ~ ever a Walgreens. Too far to walk to the Pier but close enough to China Town. The parking can be very tight with bigger vehicles but at least it’s free. I definitely recommand.

Good price, nice location

I spent 2 nights while travelling solo. This hotel is husband & wife owned. Even though the husband answers the phone as if he is real tired of doing so, he’s quite accommodating in person. For free parking and lodging in a safe area that is close to the attractions, it’s a good deal. If I go back to SF and I’m travelling by bus again,I think I’ll choose a hotel closer to the bus route. The #30 bus is about a 15-20 minute walk away.
