Very good value!

Price is good, minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel, good breakfast (the Bagels are very good!). Really worth it!

not impressed

Spend a little more money and get a better place room dirty, see through curtains,poor room service,carpet dirty,all they did daily was make the bed, the large hairball behind the bathroom door was still there when we left. the shuttle is unreliable but $12 round trip per person good.i wont be staying there my next trip to new york city. hotel is very run down. cont.breakfast a joke.

The windows were dirty we couldnt even see out our hotel window. Not that there was much to look at. Also the iron was junk, we did get that taken care of.

Nothin special

It was nice that they had a shuttle bus to take you into New york. (Time Square) But there is a 6 dollar fee each way. Hotel was nothing special. there is a light breakfast available in the mornings. (bagels, muffins, cereal, toast, juice, and coffee)There was no pool. :(

not in a great area. I mean we didn’t have any problems or anything, but the driver said it was not a good area, and it it was a little run down. It right off the free way. There are a few restaurants down the street. 1 restaurant and a few fast food joints in walking distance. (Wendy’s and Mcdonald’s)

No cleaning at all!!!!

If you like to stay at a Hotel where rooms are clean and linen is changed then this is the wrong Hotel for you. When I arrived I found Toenails from previous guests and a lot of hair behind the bathroom door.The cover from the icebucket was full of dust.And the linen were rinckeled over and over ( what means they havent been changed ) I asked the front desk to get the room cleaned and vacuumed the next day because it is disgusting. At the time we came back from our day trip nothing has been done.Toenails were still on the floor and the bathroom hasn’t been cleaned at all during my 3 night stay. Low Budget usually doesn’t mean dirty rooms but this Hotel doesnt even cover a minimum of cleaning.

Out of the way

A little out of the way from the airport. It was fine for an overnight, but too far from the airport when you have to take a taxi. The little Italian restaurant just across the parking lot, however, was the best Italian food we’ve had in a long time! Highly reccommend it. First class!

hotel was very dirty

this hotel was about 20 minutes going to manhattan.not a very good place to stay because the place was not secured,lots of thieves around that can break into your car.the room was too scary to stay because carpets are dirty that you could smell it.bathrooms was so dirty.towels were dirty that we brought our own towels.you can see stains on these towels that looks 10 years in service.the entrance of the hotel was a mess.lots of dirt arounds such as cigarrete butts, coffee cups.one morning we were eating our breakfast and i was watching this lady cleaning the floor wearing a gloves,she then went to refill the bread and muffins in the counter without removing the gloves she used in cleaning floor.there was no hot water when we took our shower.they said that when lots of people are using the shower it may took awhile before it start to flow into our room.

i give up to stay this hotel. this hotel is not the hotel i expected. Not like other hotel, the location and room are not acceptable to stay.

Close to Manhattan

This is a place to sleep for the night so you are close to Manhattan where you want to spend your days. Nothing fancy, just a ok room at an ok price.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

It was worth taking the shuttle bus in to Times Square and then taking the subway to get around Manhattan. New York drivers live up to their "crazy" billing! Be prepared to walk alot though.

GREAT HOTEL FOR WAT I PAID FOR

During my recent visit to New York City, I stayed at the Howard Johnson Inn in North Bergen for 3 nights. My stay was very comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. The front desk clerk was polite and helpful, though his English was not very good. The room was neat & clean. The AC was OK. I had an issue with the leaking faucet, which I mentioned to the front desk clerk on my way out, when I returned back from the city, the leaking faucet was repaired and a note was left in the room, apologizing for the inconvenience. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Comfort worth of price

When I booked the hotel I din’t have much expectation on its comfortness. But I was really surprised to get the room condition and cleanliness. However breakfast timing (7-10AM) is not quite suitable for travellers planning to reach fornt of the queue in NYC top destinations early morning. I would recommend for group looking for cheap hotel to stay during NYC visit.

good enough to stay

this hotel is good but the price is a little bit high comparing with other hotels in the area. The other thing is that the hotel is far from the metro station and bus line; therefore, you must have a car if you stay in that hotel.

the hotel is in an isolated road, where there is no shops and restaurants.

If you can afford it, stay somewhere else!

We had a lousy experience at this hotel. For starters, the hotel is very badly designed. Registration, ice, vending machines and breakfast are all at the street level, but to get to your room you have to climb a very steep hill that feels like you’re going to the top of Mount St. Helen’s. It’s difficult enough by car, but just imagine coming down the hill with a couple of wheeled heavy suitcases like we did the morning we checked out. Also, our room was dusty and visibly dirty. We asked to be switched to another room and sure enough they did, but the room was smaller and could not accommodate the extra rollaway bed we had ordered. That didn’t stop them from charging us for the bed anyway as well as for the use of the safe, which I thought was free (the hotel’s website doesn’t mention a surcharge after its description of "in-room safes"). The morning we were leaving there was no hot water in a bunch of rooms, including ours. The management gave us access to unoccupied rooms that did have hot water, but it was pretty inconvenient. We had to walk across the parking lot and then come back to our room to get dressed. The fact that there were five of us, including two children, made the process take forever. The final insult came that same morning when at exactly 11am someone knocked on our door to let us know it was check-out time. That was followed by a phone call from the front desk when we failed to vacate the room immediately. This was incredibly rude.

the hotel are alright. For what i paid, i think it is definitely worth.

the hotel are quite nice, not really far away from new york city too. the room was clean. I think for the price i paid, which is really nice.

not much choice to eat around the hotel, try to hv dinner before you go back the hotel.

Not Bad, but not worth a second stay

I planned a last minute trip to New York City, and found this hotel, which was located 6 miles outside of Manhattan. The hotel is not impressive, to say the least. It aligns a highway, so you’ll be dealing with traffic noises at all hours. The room itself left much to be desired, but keep in mind, that you’re getting what you paid for.

Very Bad Hotel Zero Stars

I very let down by staying at the Howard Johnson Hotel in North Bergen, NJ. I will never stay at a HJ’s again. The hotel was dirty, lacked upkeep. We even had a maid that did not clean our room onr day. When I went to the front desk to complain I was told that we had a do not disturb was on the door knob. When we checked into the hotel there were no disturb signs in the room. The next day after I complained there were disturb signs in the room. I would rate this hotel no stars!!!!
