“Nice mountain view trail side. So quiet. We don't ski so we came in the off season to enjoy the mountain views, cool evenings with dark skies so we could actually see the stars. So quiet when we cozied up by the fireplace. Swimming and enjoying the jacuzzi while we watched the sun set behind the mountain was fantastic. In just five minutes we could be at Lake Superior watching the sunrise. So wonderful and relaxing for the season we were there.”

“Loved Motel Ely! Super friendly/helpful proprietor offered plenty of recommendations for restaurants. Rooms are not standard modern soulless fare. Mismatched furnishings, midcentury-style mini fridges, unusual bathroom sink/toilets... but everything is spotless and functional. One of our 2 rooms had a great mural, both featured shiplap wood walls. Affordable and cozy. Also right on Sheridan St in Ely, making it easy to explore town on foot. Highly recommend.”

“I was very nervous after reading the reviews but we had a great stay. It's nothing fancy but the staff was great, the room had a beautiful view and it served its purpose. This location alone is worth the price we paid, which you're not going to find cheaper in Grand Marais. I mean, you're next door to World's Greatest Doughnuts!
