"We had most wonderful time there. It’s different one of the most special experiences we had. We had panoramic views of the bay from our room and amazing omakase dinner with unlimited alcohol included. We also loved the beautiful minimal design and amazing hospitality from the stuff. Lastly, don’t miss the dolphin cruise! We had the most closeup encounters with wild dolphins. It was definitely a cherry-on-top experience for the whole trip. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Akasaki Onsen?
The best area to stay in Akasaki Onsen is the central onsen district, which is concentrated around the main hot springs and the historic village center.

This area is the heart of Akasaki Onsen, featuring traditional Japanese inns (ryokans) and modern hotels, many of which offer private or communal hot spring baths. The streets are pedestrian-friendly, with small shops selling local crafts and sweets. The district is located in a scenic valley, providing views of the surrounding mountains and the nearby Akasaki River.

For couples seeking a relaxing and authentic Japanese experience, this central district is ideal. Many ryokans offer kaiseki dinners served in your room and have private onsen options, allowing for a secluded and romantic retreat. The tranquil setting and traditional architecture provide a peaceful escape.

Solo travelers looking for a serene and culturally rich stay will also find this area perfect. The proximity to various public onsen facilities and the ease of exploring the village on foot make it convenient.
When is the best time to go to Akasaki Onsen?
The best time to go to Akasaki Onsen is during the spring (April to early June) and autumn (September to November) months.

Spring offers mild temperatures and the beautiful cherry blossoms, which typically bloom from late March to early April. The surrounding mountainsides become a gentle pink, providing a lovely backdrop for onsen visits and outdoor strolls. This season is particularly pleasant for couples seeking a serene and picturesque getaway.

Autumn brings comfortable, crisp weather and stunning fall foliage. The leaves on the trees around the ryokans and along the walking paths turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, creating a striking contrast with the onsen steam.
