The room was clean and stocked with drinking water. Not much has changed since I stayed in this property before Covid. The staff was attentive and helpful. The food in the bar was a let down. The staff had issues keeping up with the orders. The food quality was not great. The staff did the best they could and corrected mistakes the best they could.

The first night you arrive, you will not be able to book any of the speciality restaurants; however, you can always ask if there have been any cancellations. Though if you are staying at the Riu and not looking for a gastronomic revelation, you could avoid the specialty restaurants and stick with the buffet and be fine - you won’t miss much. For those who are booking this place to not have to pay Atlantis prices, know that Atlantis has locked down their property. Guests from outside the resort can only go as far as the casino without paying. When cruise ships dock and the travelers arrive at Atlantis, it can get very crowded. Don’t miss the shows! The dancers are really good and the shows are quite entertaining. The Riu should invest in a good sound person, the sound near the stage is deafening, while it is hard to hear spoken word near the bar. It’s still a good time with endless drinks! The Riu is basically a place to disconnect and recharge - not a lot on offer as far as entertainment but the view is spectacular and the proximity to a wonderful beach is priceless. I would add that they could do a better job at policing careless adults who smoke while in the pool and flick their ashes in the water. There are designated smoking areas but the pool is not one of them. Not this is the Riu’s fault but while we were there, someone had a bowel movement in the bar pool and it had to be shut down for a few hours while they cleaned it. Needless to say, did not swim in it!

Great place but the food pricing is expensive. No luck on making food reservations. All booked 90 days ahead.

We loved this place! It’s easy to write a review when every thing goes without a bump! We had a bump nothing anyone could foresee and had to be fixed so we were given another room. Do NOT let that stop you, the quality of a place and staff is it usually felt when everything is perfect. It can be felt most often when things go wrong. This hotel and the staff made a snafu into a distant memory and went above and beyond. Go for the beach club, the pool the restaurants and don’t sleep on the market and pizza place! Stay for the quiet ease, the 2 level gym, 24hr pool and the spa with outdoor sauna and cold plungeIt was literally fantastic! Teens would adore it ~ it’s got no water slides, rides or “Hollywood themes” and that’s what makes this amazing! The beach club watching World Cup matches with perfect waters and wonderful snacks can’t be beat! We will definitely be returning! Ciao til next time!
