Combining shopping, dining, sightseeing and exciting activities, this large riverside mall is also a delightful spot to learn about the culture of Thailand.

While you might describe ASIATIQUE The Riverfront as a mall, it offers much more because of its unique approach of introducing visitors to Thai culture. Whether you want to shop and enjoy street food or be immersed in Bangkok’s traditions, come for a delightful evening along the Chao Phraya River.

The riverside location became a major trade center during the late 1800s when Siam and Denmark established the East Asiatic port. In 2012 ASIATIQUE The Riverfront was created, presenting four districts modeled after Bangkok itself.

The Chareonkrung District makes the tradition of trade available to all visitors in a welcoming setting. Purchase handicrafts or attend events such as Calypso Bangkok, a state-of-the-art and purely Thai cabaret that has been entertaining visitors for three decades. Alternatively watch exciting Muay Thai boxing or traditional Thai puppetry.

Town Square District looks outward, merging Western and Thai features. Visit an international sports bar here.

Come to the Factory District for the latest in fashion, including regular showcases. You’ll also find modern home design items and eclectic dining spots.

The Waterfront District is the area to play. Ride the 200-foot-tall (60-meter) ASIATIQUE Sky wheel for excellent Bangkok views or attend a concert. Bangkok’s annual New Year’s Eve countdown takes place here.

Site developers preserved many historic artifacts they discovered during renovation. Look for the colonial style of the building itself and the solid walls of a World War II bunker. An old tram track runs through the site. Near the historic pier is an old waterfront crane. Above the lights of the streets is a preserved sawmill crane, part of a historic lumbering operation.

Similar to traditional night markets, ASIATIQUE The Riverfront is closed during the day and opens from late afternoon through the evening. Plan for multiple visits to fully appreciate the site’s 1,500 shops, 40 restaurants and many events.

To reach ASIATIQUE The Riverfront, take the Skytrain to the Saphan Taksin BTS station and then board the free ferry for the 10-minute ride to the mall. Before you leave, stop in the Juliet Love Garden to preserve your eternal commitment with an initialed love lock.
