Double booked. This review is not about Apollo

Posted Nov 22, 2016
Apollo Hotel is a good hotel. We were double booked to moved to isonius hotel. This hotel is in serious need of some investment. Rooms are shabby as is the bathroom. Un kept and feels dirty. Paint falling off cracks in wall. Better to stay at a hostel. Not impressed at all.

Good hotel in the center of the city

Posted Sep 27, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Room renovation
Location: Go watch Acropolis from the roof terrace bar.
Don't expect something special. Not far from the nearest metro station. I expected something stressful from the reports on the Internet as to not so decent districts of the city, but it was calm and quite appropriate. Magnificent view from the top terrace with a rather cheap bar. Little indifferent receptionist keeping doing her paper business even seeing us waiting for her help, but on the contrary an excellent waitress with the explanations as to the specificities of Greek cuisine. The room was rather small.

Well enough located to get to the city centre

Posted Sep 8, 2016
Pros: The breakfast spread was satisfying for our breakfasts during our stay, the food was fairly clean, there was a balcony (no good view though)
Cons: Could have more comfortable/actual double beds, the shower flooded while we were there, the parking available wasn't very good (no parking lot)
Location: Near a metro station, a metro ticket for the day or the week is pretty cheap, we walked into town most of the time. There is food nearby but not great
We spent most of the time out and about but did chill in the room just before bed/to eat, the room was fine - as expected for a cheap hotel. We did walk to and from the hotel in the evenings sometimes which was fine (I'm 20 year old female, but had a fairly strong/tall man with me), didn't see any particularly unsavoury characters nearby, but elsewhere in Athens we did see prostitutes during daytime. If you aren't too bothered about staying in the absolute best accommodation and you're just there to see the sights this hotel will do fine.

Cheap hotel who's room matches the price

Posted Jul 2, 2016
Not the nicest hotel and the outside area matches. The room was very tiny and not very clean. Found multiple ants and woke up with bites on legs from possible bed bugs. Had to pay extra money once arrived for an extra person but for the same ammenities and room. Was not worth it. Very thin walls which allowed you to hear outside traffic, people moving furniture and elevator throughout the night. The provided breakfast yielded warm food that was meant to be cold and cold food that was meant to be warm. The only pros where a working air conditioner and a view from the roof of the Parthenon.

6 nights in April '16

If you are looking for a comfort, please consider elsewhere. It's a budget hotel for those who don't mind very, very noisy streets and never ending elevator activity which you will hear from your room. The doors open and slam so loudly that even the soundest sleepers won't be spared. The hotel has not been kept up for years. On the upside, it's cheap and near metro.
