Avô Hotels $62

The best area to stay in Avô is directly within the village center, particularly around the Praça do Pelourinho, for easy access to its historic features and the Alva River.

The village center is a compact and walkable area characterized by traditional stone houses, narrow streets, and the central square. Here, you'll find the historic pillory monument and the main church, Igreja Matriz de Avô. The area is situated directly alongside the Alva River, offering pleasant views and immediate access to the river beaches. It's a convenient base for exploring on foot.

For families, staying near the river beaches is ideal. These areas provide direct access to swimming spots and recreational activities along the Alva River, such as kayaking or simply relaxing by the water. Many accommodations here offer gardens or outdoor spaces, which are superb for children.

Couples often appreciate the peacefulness and traditional feel of the village center. The quiet streets and proximity to local eateries provide a relaxed setting for a romantic getaway.

While Avô is a beautiful destination year-round, the best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons of late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October).

During these months, you'll experience pleasant weather that's ideal for outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds. The temperatures are comfortable for exploring the village, walking along the Alva River, or enjoying a meal at an outdoor cafe. You'll find the natural surroundings lush and inviting, great for photography or simply relaxing by the water.

Summer (July and August) is also a good time to visit, especially if you enjoy warmer weather and want to take full advantage of the river beaches for swimming and sunbathing. However, it's the busiest time of year, so you can expect more visitors and potentially higher prices for accommodations.
