When we drove up, we noticed a For Sale sign on the property. No one was present in the home, so we called the phone number which was provided inside. A woman came to show us our rooms, to give us room keys and to answer any questions. After that she left, and we did not see anyone else throughout our stay. We were the only guests at the property. I had previously received an email telling me the restaurant was being closed for the winter season. I assumed that breakfast and bar services would be hosted, but the bar area was dark. Some liquor bottles were still on the shelves. The ice machine was not working. It appeared that the house was being vacated in light of being on the market for sale. I think the owner should have informed us and allowed us to book elsewhere. (We did have a delicious dinner at the restaurant across the street.) Items for a continental breakfast had been left in a small refrigerator with cereal boxes on top of the refrigerator. As for checking out, we had been told to leave the room keys in the doors, and so we departed in the morning. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but staying in an empty B&B was not inviting.
