Bilbao was already becoming known in Europe when the Guggenheim Museum opened in 1997, but now it has most certainly reached a level of fame globally. At the forefront of a worldwide pro-gram of revitalization, its industrial neighborhoods have been transformed into locales where artis-tic and cultural programs are plentiful. More than just urban delights await near the city's hotels, however. The Basque region's natural outdoor attractions are very close with quick train rides.
