“We were prepared for no hot water, no AC, no cell service, but we were not prepared for the overall shady communication, vibes and charges. We booked this hotel to be close to Corcovado, and booked a tour with the hotel. When we asked for details, they said they said that the communication from Expedia was poor, and they only booked our snorkeling tour. We asked to cancel the snorkeling because the national park was our priority. She said they couldn't because they already bought the tickets....

“Really great staff who really know the area and cultivate the farm. They can give you information on ecology you won't find outside of guided tour groups in the park, and there's also yoga. The property is beautiful and it is easy to see birds. It is a pretty primitive property and so you should be expecting bug bites and no modern comforts. Bathing in rainwater is amazing, but it is also not warm. Also the ants really bite- I was itchy for a week afterward. So be careful. ”

The views are spectacular, and the staff's service is excellent—they're always available when you need something. I especially want to highlight the attention and the food from the cook, Lili. "Have you ever seen those videos where someone rescues a puppy from the rain, gives it a warm bath, wraps it in a cozy blanket, and suddenly it believes in life again? Well... that's exactly how I felt when I arrived at Tranquilo. Sebastián and Christoff, the owners, don't just run a hotel—they seem to have made it their personal mission to make every guest feel like the most important person there. They're present, thoughtful, and always one step ahead. They picked us up from the airport, helped us organize our adventures, made sure we had the right gear for every expedition, and paid attention to every little detail. Their care for their guests goes far beyond the lodge itself. It shows in the equipment they lend you for jungle tours, the dry towels they carefully packed for our snorkeling trip, and countless little touches that made us feel genuinely cared for every single day. The food... absolutely incredible. Every meal felt like it came from a fine dining restaurant, yet somehow still had the warmth and comfort of a home-cooked meal. The rooms are beautiful, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could possibly need. I can honestly say I've never been taken care of this well at any hotel. Tranquilo isn't just a place to stay; it's a place where you arrive exhausted and leave feeling better than when you came. I'd recommend it over and over again without a second thought. 10/10. As of today, I have a second home in Drake Bay—and its name is Tranquilo"
