If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Australia, then it's likely you'll need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car. It's also important to note that if an IDP is required, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your current license your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
