The airport in Addis Abeba is a pain in the butt, but that is the trade off for relatively cheap tickets and good connections. Unless Ethiopian upgrades the airport, though, people will choose other connections.

We upgraded at Johannesburg to Business Class. The people we dealt with knew what they were doing but did not coordinate. Economy check in was a mad house. Grad we upgraded. The flight was operated by Ethiopian Airlines and I have never had a bad experience with them. They are the best. Boli Airport in Addis is very familiar and we got the short like through Immigration. Then waited 45 minutes for our first bag.We waited another hour for our second bag and filed a lost bag report. They now have delivery. As we were leaving the very helpful lady that had started us on the process came up with our second bag. She took the initiative to go searching, bless her. Great flight but baggage is often a problem.

Terrible confusion leaving the plane as it took a long time before buses came. The staff MUST make announcements to stop passengers getting up before the plane is in final position, and really should announce which doors will open. It was 30 minutes of frustration and dangerous movement as passengers were trying to go forward before the doors were opened, then the plane moved again, and finally the back doors were opened reversing flow.
