We were coming down south for car show in Alton but we were looking for a unique place to stay close by and Green Tree exceeded our expectations. The owners are a delight. Room was comfortable and classy. Breakfast and afternoon treat was delicious. Felt like a home away from home. The attention to details was amazing. They made us feel like we were the only guests. The food was so good we had to buy their cookbook. Not going to lie, I am a bit of a clean freak, I typically bring my own bedding & cleaning products but there is no need as this place was spotless. If you are in the Alton, Grafton, or Elsa area this is the place to stay for sure. We enjoyed the quiet and beauty of nature and the historic village. Nice, comfortable room. Breakfasts were tasty (and very filling!) --- we easily lasted without eating until dinner. Not far to great hiking at Pere Marquette State Park and new gondola/chair-lift in Grafton.
