"The hosts were delightful! They were friendly helpful. The views of the mountains were stunning. We had access to a canoe and paddled around the lake which was an extra fun bonus. The house was lovely and had all the amenities we needed. The only constructive feedback is that one of the bedrooms doors do not have a door or a sheet to separate that space from the living room. A sheet would make it easier for someone to sleep if the living room was being occupied. "

"Very homey - all of the extra touches were very nice (eggs from the yard chickens, snacks, plenty of spices, kitchen utensils). Lovely and interesting art and decorations. Comfortable beds (regular bed and sofa sleeper - didn't use the futon). We wish there was a sign-in book! Maybe we missed it.Easy check-in and check-out, good wifi.I saw some reviews about lots of mosquitos. This seems to have been a light year overall - we didn't have a single mosquito and spent as much time as possible on the porch.I hope to come back with my husband this winter to enjoy the views again with snow!Thank you for allowing pets. I know it's an extra risk and I love being able to travel with my pups."

"This is a fun old historic lodge, and so you will have to adjust to not every room having a bathroom. Our room, number 9, was large, very clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is very good, and the Tavern, where you eat dinner, is great. The chef, Nicola, is outstanding, serving up numerous draft beers and creating great daily dishes--his Halibut was the best of the trip! Even if you don't stay here, visit Trappers Tavern for dinner! "

"I was looking for a bed and a shower on this trip. All other lodging options in Valdez this time of year (August) charge a premium. This place worked out great and since it was only a place to sleep, I didn't need anything fancy. As other guests have noted, there isn't much in the way of soundproofing so you can hear your neighbors quite well. It didn't cause any issues for me though earplugs are recommended if you have sensitivity to sounds. The place is showing its age but is maintained well and was clean. I liked the fact it had a guest laundry so I could was my clothes and reset for the rest of my trip. The breakfast is nothing fancy, but again, there was enough there to start the day and there really isn't a breakfast place in town anyway. Great location in town and walkable to anything you need to see in Valdez. I saw many folks there on motorcycle trips. Definitely a great option for riders! I easily recommend this place to anyone looking for a low-budget option."
