"We had an excellent stay. The cabin and grounds offered a private and peaceful getaway (which was exactly what we were looking for). The property had trails, a pond, fenced in vineyard, beautiful views and plenty of wildlife ... not to mention farm fresh eggs! The cabin was very well appointed and had everything we needed. Most importantly our dog gave this place a "two paws up" review! Can't rave enough about the hosts! Communication was great and they were readily available if we needed...

"Squirrel's Nest is an absolutely charming cottage in a quaint town. Great location & perfect for our needs. We only stayed a weekend, to attend the Sounds of the Mountains storytelling festival at nearby Camp Bethel. We hope to go back when we can stay longer, to see more of the town & surrounding area."

"Loved the location, privacy, and quiet surroundings. Everything was great, and the water was just like any other Sulphur water. It has a smell, but it works! Plus, there was a full bottle of water in the water cooler when we arrived. We enjoyed sitting down by the water and watching the ducks float by. We communicated both with Evolve, and with the local contact, and everyone was helpful and quick to reply. Would not hesitate to stay again!"

"The place was very small and cut up. It was dirty and had ants all in the kitchen. Every room was in some form dirty including showers and toilets. Dangerous stairs to get upstairs and down. Found slugs in basement where two bedrooms were located. Water dripped out of the ceiling onto kitchen counter. Dirty inside cabinets, drawers etc. no where near worth the amount per night. Completely unacceptable. Reached out to owner and her response was that she cleaned it when she was there. Some areas...

"Unable to get a hotel room so this was the only alternative. The RV was listed as big enough to sleep 4. Three would have been possible but 4 a stretch and there’s no way 4 people could have taken a hot shower. I got a lukewarm one day one (only in for several minutes) and my son’s was ice cold. Also the place was clean but smelled of stale beer. Also the AC ran constantly even though thermostat was set at 75 degrees. Place was frigid."

"I like it. I would book again but in warmer weather for me. I enjoy the scenry, the openness and the quietness. One suggestion, maybe i overlooked it but state that cell phone connectivity is low due to area. If you have a wifi code you should include it in welcome letter as when you get there the service is very low to non existing."

"This property provides a wonderful riverside stay on the New River right on the river with easy access and easy parking right in front of the cabin efficiency. Close access to to the Whitehorne Boat Ramp for those the need a ramp as well as the scenic McCoys Falls right up Rt 625. Communication and instructions was excellent to plan our arrival and stay for the weekend.We look forward to coming back again this summer."

"We stayed at the cabin in Nov 2023. And had a wonderful time. What made the trip so memorable was getting recommendations from the owner Amy when she came to the cabin stoking the outside heater that piped in heat to cabin. Cannot over emphasize the need to do research on places to explore while there, because this cabin is in a very rural area. Amy's recommendations on where we should visit meant everything. Quiz her on that. I encouraged her to place in the cabin a list of Must See's / Must...

"Pros: Very quiet, comfortable beds, pretty views and sounds from the creek, hospitable and helpful host - con: slight sulfur smell from the water at times (which was disclosed and harmless), but it didn’t last and we didn’t find it bothersome. All in all, this was a well equipped and nicely located cabin which I would recommend."

"We were a little intimidated by the drive up in the rain, but once we got to Gobbler Knob things were great! Everything we needed was there, it was comfy and clean and when the rain cleared, the deck was fantastic. The view off the deck was the perfect way to start and end the day and it was an easy drive down to Floyd for entertainment, food and exploring. We loved listening to all the birds around the place."
