The Space:

Updated Studio Layout: One open room — king bed, sitting area, queen pullout, kitchenette, and workspace in a single 4th-floor layout. Mt Crested Butte visible from the window.



Sleeping Capacity: One king bed (sleeps two) + queen pullout sofa (sleeps two more). Room-darkening shades. 55" wall-mounted TV.

What This Condo Does Well: 2-minute walk to Red Lady Express — the closest ski access short of a slope-side cabin. Year-round amenities that hold up in summer, not just winter. Self check-in by digital keypad. Studio layout is efficient — ideal for couples or a family of four who want full building amenities without the size (or price) of a two-bedroom condo.



Know Before Booking: No A/C (altitude keeps things cool). Building common areas date to 1999 — the unit itself is updated, the hallways and lobby show some age.



Guest Access:

Self Check-In: Digital keypad entry. Your code and 4th-floor directions are emailed before arrival. Late arrivals accepted with advance notice.



Your Space: The entire studio is yours, plus full access to Grand Lodge shared amenities — heated indoor/outdoor pool, year-round hot tub, fitness center, steam room, and fireplace lobby.



Parking & EV: Complimentary parking in the Grand Lodge lot (1 pass per reservation). EV charging available on-site.

The Neighborhood:

Location: Grand Lodge sits at the base of Mt Crested Butte, adjacent to Red Lady Express lift. The immediate base village includes ski rental shops, casual restaurants, an après bar, and lift-adjacent chairlift views. Downtown historic Crested Butte (wooden Victorian storefronts, galleries, breweries, live music, fine dining) is a free shuttle or 6–8 minute drive away — 3 miles north.



Season-by-Season:

- Winter: Peak skiing, crowded lifts, après-ski scene, holiday festivities.

- Spring: Melting snow, opening hiking trails, wildflower emergence.

- Summer: Alpine hiking, mountain biking, Kebler Pass scenic loop (35 min), fly-fishing on the Gunnison River.

- Fall: Aspen peak color (late September), fewer visitors, ideal hiking weather.



Air Access: Gunnison Valley Regional Airport (GUC), 30 miles / 40 min south — regional flights. Denver International Airport (DEN), 230 miles east via I-70 — full national and international options.



Altitude: 9,375 ft. Thin air, strong sun, cool nights even in summer. Bring sunscreen, extra water, and take day one easy if new to altitude.



Two Towns, Two Vibes: Mt Crested Butte (the ski village, amenity-focused) versus historic Crested Butte (downtown, artsy, bohemian, 3 miles away). Both worth exploring on a multi-day trip.



Getting Around:

Parking: Free parking in the Grand Lodge lot (1 pass per reservation).



Red Lady Express Lift: 2-minute walk from Studio 412 to the lift line. Follow signs through the Grand Lodge courtyard to the base lodge. Lift lines form around 7:45 AM; opening 9:00 AM. Lift status posted in the lobby.



Town Shuttle: Complimentary service from the Grand Lodge main entrance to downtown Crested Butte (Elk Avenue). Schedule in the lobby and in your pre-arrival guidebook. Evening service (Friday–Sunday, seasonal) runs later.



Walking: Base village is pedestrian-friendly (ski rental, restaurants, bars within 5–10 minutes on foot). Downtown is 3 miles away — shuttle or car only.



Ski & Bike Storage: Butte & Co (base area) provides free overnight and day storage. Winter hours 7:00 AM–6:00 PM; summer hours extended. Grab your equipment and walk to the lift.



Rental Car: Available at Gunnison airport (30 miles, 40 min), typically better rates than Denver airport. Useful for Kebler Pass scenic drives, Maroon Bells day trips (summer), and backcountry trailhead access.

Winter Driving: I-70 and US-50 to Gunnison see snow and ice Nov–April. Tire chains required by law in severe conditions. Drive slowly and allow extra time for winter arrivals.



Other Things to Note:

Pets: Not pet-friendly. The Grand Lodge HOA restricts pets above the 2nd floor; Studio 412 is on the 4th floor.



Air Conditioning: None. Mt Crested Butte is at 9,375 ft and rarely needs cooling even in July — open windows handle airflow.



Housekeeping: No daily service. Mid-stay turnover available with 24 hours' notice.



Grand Lodge Amenities: Pool, hot tub, gym, and steam room are operated by a separate building management company. Rare temporary closures for maintenance do happen — we'll communicate any that we're aware of in advance.



Altitude: 9,375 ft. First-time high-altitude visitors may feel mild fatigue or headaches for 24–48 hours. Water, sunscreen, and an easy first day help most guests acclimate within hours.



What To Pack:

- Winter (Nov–April): Winter coat, ski gear (or rent locally), hand warmers, sunscreen (UV strong at altitude).

- Summer (June–August): Rain jacket, layers, sturdy hiking boots, sunscreen, sunglasses.

- Spring & Fall: Unpredictable weather — pack layers and a waterproof jacket.

Email or call (we're on Mountain Time, typically 8:00 AM–6:00 PM weekdays, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM weekends). For urgent issues — no heat, plumbing problems, lockouts — call immediately. Front desk staff in the Grand Lodge lobby can also help with building-specific questions.



Checkout: Light cleanup requested (dishes in the dishwasher, trash in the bins, towels in the tub). Housekeeping can handle deeper cleaning at a separate fee if you prefer — let us know 24 hours in advance.



Ground Rules: Respect quiet hours (10:00 PM–8:00 AM). No parties or events beyond your registered party size. No unregistered guests overnight. Smoking outdoors only — never in the unit or hallways.
