Cabin modern
The property was very nice...modern. The location of the cabin is further into the woods. Expect a drive with twists and turns. The isolation was nice though.

Great stay!
The owner was very accommodating, the house was clean and the location was perfect for what we were looking for. We enjoyed the peaceful setting (we sipped coffee while watching deer and turkeys from the porch some mornings) but also appreciated that the towns of Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk were only a short drive away.

We had a great stay at this cabin. It was very clean and accommodated our group well. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and walking our dog around the neighborhood. It was also nice that they had a Christmas tree up, since we were there for the holidays. We would definitely stay again!!

Even Nicer Than The Photos
This house is as remote as the description indicates. There is abundant seating without crowding. Everything looks new and is spotless. The kitchen has every type of cookware, serving dish and gadget, but we still ate every meal out. There are way more plates, glasses and utensils than could ever be needed, all perfect. The screen porch was nice in the evening, but we did not use the fire pit or other outdoor seating areas. A lot of thought went into the layout and design. This is the perfect getaway.

Wonderful escape!
First time to Powder Horn Mountain. Fabulous! Loved every minute up there. House was amazing with perfect lighting, decor and layout for us, our three teens and senior lab. Beds super comfy and that master bath is amazing. Cooked dinner for 5 every night in well stocked kitchen and propane grill. S’mores under the stars at the fire pit. Our Yukon handled the steep mountain roads and river crossing just fine. Had the community pool and campground stream basically to ourselves. Did some easy hikes and challenged ourselves to the Blue Hole hike from PHM campground. Not for the faint of heart, but worth it to swim the Blue Hole. Made it back with soggy shoes but thankfully no sprained ankles. For anyone not wanting intense hiking, you can drive to a closer spot for an easier walk to the Blue Hole. Went biking and hiking at Rocky Knob Mountain Bike park towards Boone. Pump track there and trails were definitely worth the drive. Gem mining with Jessie at the back gate was a fantastic find as well. I would suggest stocking up on groceries before arriving so you don’t have to leave the mountain. Didn’t see any bears, but did see lots of deer and wild turkeys. We truly loved this mountain escape and will plan to stay longer next time. -Rebecca from Wilmington NC

Beautiful views
We had a great time at Moonlight Ridge! We went for my kid’s Spring Break the first week of April. Most nearby attractions don’t open until mid-late April, so we missed out on some activities. Regardless, it was perfect weather for hiking, camping, campfires, biking, etc. The neighborhood had some great trails for all age levels. The house had everything we needed: stocked kitchen supplies, blankets, towels and games for the kids. The fireplace was not available for use which I wish I knew about before booking. The screened in porch was my favorite place for watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee.

Love, Love, Love
LOVED OUR STAY! The cabin was exactly as pictured/described. Everything was clean and bedding was actually comfortable! The kitchen had everything we needed; we were able to buy groceries at the Food Lion which was just a short drive away in Boone and make breakfast and dinner every day (definitely helped save $$$). We enjoyed making a fire and just hanging out outside. I do want to say, though, keep an eye on the kiddos if they’re still little, when you’re outside. It’s not a big yard or open area where they can just run around as there are some areas that drop off. But this shouldn’t be a problem if you’re doing your job as a parent. 😬 The cabin’s location was also excellent. Everything was within a reasonable driving distance for mountain time (we’re city slickers so for us to say that, it really wasn’t bad!), and although roads were a little 😳 at times (again, city folk here lol) roads were paved and doable - just with caution and within the speed limit! We loved driving out to Blowing Rock - really nice walk in the downtown area, an awesome playground to let the kids get it all out, and good restaurants (Town Tavern and Alehouse). There’s also a Kilwin’s there (woohoo)! We drove out and took a walk in downtown Boone, too, which was a little more college towny, obviously bc Appalachian State University is there. We enjoyed lunch at Booneshine Brewing Company in Boone which was good for mom and dad and nice for the kids, too. The best part is that the cabin has a binder with all these suggestions and more that you can take a look at! Communication was also fantastic. No problems getting in through the guardhouse and instructions for lockbox were clear as day. We really loved our stay and would recommend to anyone looking!

We had a delightful stay with another family at this mountain home. Even though it rained the entire weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed hiking trails that the kids are still talking about (ages 9-17 years). The communication with the host was exceptional and the views were amazing. We have already said we can't wait to return. Thanks for the sharing the magic of this mountain escape!

Mountain Getaway
We had the most wonderful time in the high country of NC! We hit the fall colors at their peak and it was spectacular. The home is the most well equipped home we've stayed in. It was very clean and the view from the deck is glorious with beautiful sunrises. We would highly recommend this home but do want to add that it is a little out of the way if you want to "pop" into town for golf, forgotten groceries, etc. We wished the fireplace was a working fireplace just for the added coziness. It was just the two of us; but there is lots of space to bring family or friends along on your adventure! This is a great vacation rental!

Awesome House!
I rented this house for a total of 7 ladies and all of our supplies for a scrabooking getaway. We had plenty of room as the downstairs was spacious and had tons of natural light. The cleanliness of the house was exceptional as well as all of the supplies that we needed. The deck and covered porch were so relaxing with beautiful views of the changing leaves. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I highly recommend this place - you won't be disappointed!
