![An idyllic, misty view of Sandavágur! I was on my way to the otherworldly Trøllkonufingur! Trøllkonufingur was one of the best sights on Vágar Island and one of the highlights of my trip. But, I also enjoyed the walk to and from there! I hiked about 12 KM that entire day and it was well worth it.

Sandavágur has been voted the most well-kept village in the Faroes twice. And it's the most famous "city" in the country, and best voted traveling experience. Although, not an actual city at all - the population is only around 861! The name Sandavágur means sandy bay and refers to the sandy beach which used to be much larger than present. From one point in Sandavágur you can get a view of all the southern islands in the Faroes. And the red-roofed church seen in this photo is one of the best in the Faroe Islands! In fact, members of the Danish Royal Family were there 1 day after I was! I even saw their motorcade as they were continuing on their journey. A pretty cool experience, too ;).

Shortly after I visited another iconic landmark: Múlafossur Waterfall! I wish I had time to get a close-up view of Drangarnir, though. It is truly otherworldly!

![I took this photo at Sørvágsvatn in the Faroe Islands! This isn't a view of the lake itself or the iconic cliffs. But a view of lesser known cliffs right by the lake itself. And the body of water you see is the deep sea :). And the lake was to the right of me. To see both at the same time is a very cool sight, as well. But I like this close-up view the best. Can really get a feel of how otherworldly it is! As the classic views of the lake. I hiked about 4 KM to get to Sørvágsvatn and it was definitely worth it! Some other tourists as well, but not nearly as many as the peak of summer. I'm glad I went on that late August day! "A charming home in the middle of Leirvik, just 10 minutes from the Klaksvik ferry to Kalsoy. Do note that the tunnel from Leirvik to Klaksvik comes with an added cost. Lilja does a fantastic job of making your stay personal and the homemade breakfast each morning is a great way to start the day! As I was the only one staying (there are multiple rooms that could potentially be rented out at the same time), I particularly enjoyed our conversations about Faroese life, culture, faith and tourism. She is more than willing to help answer any questions that you have!"
