Great unique bed & breakfast in the heart of Detroit. Walkable to sports arenas and bars/restaurants. Love the renovated old world charm of the house.

97 Winder is a classic old mansion with dozens of rooms -- kitchen, sitting rooms, bedrooms -- that are furnished with Edwardian-era antiques. Very charming. The bedrooms have 12' ceilings and remodeled en-suite bathrooms. However, it is located in a marginal area of downtown Detroit. I didn't have any issues with that, I wanted to be close to Comerica Park, but the area is very urban. My only head-scratcher was arriving at 3:30pm for check-in only to be told to come back at 4pm or face a $50 surcharge. There truly is a first time for everything folks -- I get early check-in as a courtesy a dozen times a year but this is not a Hilton and that is part of its charm. Still recommend for an easy walk to the stadiums or downtown Detroit.

Beautiful old mansion that had old time charm but a clean more modern feel. Staff were friendlier in person than on the phone. Towels were thin and shower was luke warm. Our room was very cold with the air conditioning but she couldn’t make it warmer because it would affect the temperature in a nearby room that complained it was too hot. However she had a space heater which we used on a hot day in June!. 5-10 minute walk to Comerica Park. Probably the same distance to the LCA. We enjoyed playing games with our friends in the beautiful dining room and admiring the unique decor. Bed was great. Would stay here again. Close to the Q line.

Lovely historical spot and just beautiful! Walkable to many things and super close to all of the sports stadiums. The room and space were beautiful and the on site parking was a huge bonus! Breakfast hours were not great and too late to be used for us. And the place itself was lacking a bit cleanliness wise as things were dusty in spots. But staff were very nice and being able to stay in this beautiful landmark was a treat!

Denise at front desk was lovely! Accommodations were absolutely beautiful, the decor was unique and the bedroom was spacious. Very large bathroom with nice toiletries. Beds could be updated-- they were fine, but I felt the springs. Skip the breakfast, which was minimal, but adequate.

It’s a beautiful old mansion in a decent location close enough to the heart of downtown. Unfortunately the room I had isn’t as nice as it appears online. It’s a very old house so walking around you hear the creaking pretty much everywhere. The bed was just barely comfortable. I would’ve expected higher end bedding from a property like this. Cleanliness of the room was also a bit of an issue in that there are stains on the carpet, slight stains on some of the furniture along the wall by the windows. There was noticeable dust where they missed sweeping. It’s a place with a lot of potential, but perhaps it’s a staffing issue, they just need to be more on top of their game With regard to the property. The staff were all very nice. That was a highlight.

Incredibly cool experience to stay in an old, beautifully decorated hotel. It truly felt like an experience from 100 years ago with vintage furniture and rooms. Parking was easy and the location was convenient for going to Tigers Game, visiting the Motown Museum, and dining out. The rooms are older, so be aware. Also, the WiFi did not function properly for the duration of our stay.
