Please note that the only way to get there is by car and the most convenient option is to take advantage of the dinner offered. “Way up on the mountainside with a beautiful view of the valley and the Douro River. Valeria is a wonderful host and the place is truly something special. The beds are super comfortable, the bathrooms fantastic and she thought of every detail. ”

“We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e……

“I was never able to get to the hotel due to road closures caused by flooding in the area. The hotel never communicated to me via any means before hand. I made multiple attempts trying to get to the hotel through different roads and all ended up being closed at a some point. The sun went down and it was very dark. We were lucky to eventually drive out of the scary dangerous roads. A refund request was denied by the hotel. While I understand the policy, I don’t understand why the hotel never……

“Beautiful hotel in rural setting. Owner Miguel reserved our Acoura 516 bridge tickets as our international charge card was not accepted. The continental buffet breakfast was delicious and freshly served. We enjoyed the fireplace in the evening which Miguel started each evening. If we return to the area to hike we will definitely stay here again. It was impressively clean and staff (his family :) friendly. ”
