"The upside is: the hotel is in a beautifully restored, historic building centrally located in downtown Grass Valley.. The downside is a lack of amenities. The included breakfast was bare bones - no fruit, no juice, no cereal/oatmeal, no yogurt, just coffee/tea, mini scones & a vegetable fritta that was dry & bland. Since it's an historic hotel, there isn't a workout room, and, not a single tv in the entire hotel - not even in the bar area. Finally, the hotel seemed to be understaffed as many times the front desk was unattended because that person had to cover another areas of the hotel, i.e., servicing the breakfast area, delivering supplies to hotel guests, etc.. The restaurant & bar were well run with customer focused staff."

"Everything was lovely. It was a great stay! Cute, cozy, and had everything we needed. My husband and I were there with a friend, and the only thing is that we didn't realize the upper loft room has an outside staircase to get to it. It's right there, so not like a long trek, but I felt bad that our friend had to walk around outside to come in for the restroom in the middle of the night. But that's really a personal preference (or maybe just a girl thing). If you don't care, or maybe if it's your kids and they don't care, then it's really a perfect little spot! My husband and I would go back by ourselves and be perfectly happy. So, great for a couple by themselves or singles (like a single person, or a group of single people that don't mind sharing the bed and the couch and then they don't have to walk around outside at night)."

"This was a luxurious stay. The hosts have a lovely home and grounds. The room we stayed in was cozy and the temperature of the room was easily regulated. We LOVED the hot tub, the breakfast served by our hosts and the whole experience."
