Overall it was a place to sleep and eat and shower. We had to fix the glass shower doors because they were off the tracks. The bathroom door took full physical strength to make it latch by lifting up and pushing in. It was cold inside, couldn't find a heater. Exterior needs a lot of upkeep. The old decking was very slippery and so is the green painted concrete, some of the decking on the walkway was loose and there was a piece that was already broken when we got there. And not 100% sure why the code to the lock is so long? Usually four digits is good enough? But other than that it was just a place to sleep, eat and shower. The vacasa person I was texting with was very nice though and helpful and allowed us to leave our vehicle there for a few hours after checkout since it broke down. So thank you to that person

Enjoyed our stay at Distant Shores in Inglenook, California
I booked this house for a quick ocean trip before my boys went back to school. The property was very clean, had the items available for us to cook our own meals and run a load of laundry after a day at the beach. My boys enjoyed playing on the property, it had a big yard for them to run and play. They even provided us with wood and lighter fluid, so we could enjoy the firepit and roast marshmallows. Bring your own sticks for roasting things, these are not provided and we picked up some at the local ACE hardware store. Everything was nice and comfortable until the day we were checking out. They are serious about the 10am check out time. We had just a few more items to get out of the house and to tie down our truck and the cleaning lady showed up at 10:10am. She was real mad and chewed me out for slowing her down, she told me I was supposed to be out at 10am and she needed in their now. I apologized and we quickly gather the last items in the house and got out of her way. I have to say even though that ended our stay with us feeling badly, I would probably book here again.

Grounds poorly kept. Exterior , marginal at best. Interior, think motel 6. Old , funky furnishings
Being in the housing industry, l noticed numerous code violations, broken heat vent line, so it was steaming up the bedroom, funky moldy smell. Chairs with un even legs. Terrible couch, filthy tile floor. Shower, closet sliding doors all need replacement. Minimal cooking accessories. Cracked glasses, busted knife,, l could go on. I will say this, 1st day there as we went to use the sink, the facet blew off, soaking 1/2 the kitchen. No cell service. So we had sent email,,, no response! Went to town and called to ask for repair. Greeted by a " don't think we can get to it this week". After mentioning our displeasure with the situation and mentioning the building code violations. The repair guy showed up just after we got back from town. He was spot on, replaced the unit! That how ever in no way made up for the numerous near misses of personal injury due to non conforming front landing! Very disappointed! Will never book with vacasa again. They are a publicly traded multi national with over 34k units. Whole thing reaked of corporate neglect in favor of profit. Operations like this need to be outlawed!

Perfect home, and incredible beaches - walk through the beautiful sand dunes to a secluded private beach. We loved our stay! We will be back. We never even went anywhere while we were here because you can't beat the beach in the backyard. Thank you!

The location was perfect. It was quiet and peaceful and the dunes were a great climbing playground for my son. The house is older but met our needs fine. The kitchen could use a few more things like baking pans and a pastry brush. We were able to make do with what was there, but I don't think a cook stocked it. We did have to go out to buy more toilet paper, but in the big picture these are little things and didn't affect our enjoyment of the property. We would go again.

Great place for K9 family members.
Great place, until the kitchen! Which is odd! Danger! Danger! Will Robinson! Turn on bathroom fan before using stove? The pots & pans were cook worthy! Stove and Kitchen? It was a test? And that can be a good thing? K9 approved! A chefs' test! Over all, if your K9 friends are testing you.

Cute house
Cute little house , perfect for 2 couples. Great kitchen set up, nice cookware, I like to cook. We did have an issue with mold in the bathroom, we cleaned it ourselves, the property manager was sympathetic and advised us that the house would be deep cleaned.

Great location!
This cottage is in a great location that we really enjoyed - a quiet and charming lane about 15 minutes north of Fort Bragg and with access to a very secluded beach across some sand dunes. We were alone on the beach most days; at most we saw 4 or 5 other people (and it's a long stretch of beach). It's not a super easy walk - about 15 minutes across loose sand in the dunes - but such a unique spot. We enjoyed the exercise, the terrain, the peace of the beach... The house itself is kind of run down but still cozy. We enjoyed our stay there. Pro's: - Cozy gas fireplace the heated the house quite well - Big kitchen table - Nice deck that you looked out onto from both bedrooms - Fire pit with log stools around it - Really nice grounds - Nice Cuisinart stainless steel pots and pans Con's: - Kind of run-down - unpainted spots on walls where patching was done, unfinished edges to some countertops, etc. - Bedroom doors are closet louver doors so let in light and ALL sound; no privacy and a little challenging if on different sleep schedules - Bed was pretty hard - Very minimal kitchen supplies; we brought all of the basics after reading other reviews. Only supplies there were salt and coffee filters and the cooking utensils are basic. We had a nice time there and really enjoyed the location. The house is cozier than it looks in the photos and it was a nice spot to spend our Christmas week.

Sand dunes
We felt that the house hadn't been opened up in months. There was a smell to one of the rooms and it might have been from the pet stains on the corner by the bed. We were disappointed that the hot tub wasn't up and running as this was one of the main reasons we rented the property. We have rented other houses on the same street and enjoyed those a lot more. We enjoyed being able to walk out to the sand dunes and the winery up the highway. We just felt with all the emails saying the house was getting cleaned up and ready for us that it would have felt fresh and clean especially with the things going on this year.

The place was clean, cute and really simple but it had all the amenities which was perfect for us. We loved the house and the property we would rent it again. The only thing the beach is a bit far from the house. Don’t expect it to be beach front. It’s a long walk or a good hike.

Kitchen equipment needs improvement
Overall, this is a nice property. We experienced some challenges with the kitchen equipment. The coffee maker was extremely slow. Most of the water was steamed away as we brewed coffee. Also, the hand mixer does not work well. Only one beater works. The pots and pans are old and grimy. The freezer temperature is set too low. It actually froze a bottle of vodka. Updating kitchen equipment would improve the experience of staying in this home.

Great location but needs TLC
The best part of this property is there is a path to walk over the dunes to a private beach and there is a nice outdoor space . We found this path accidentally as there was no information regarding it in the house . It would have been nice to have a little orientation information. Also a positive was that everything was clean excepting the hot tub with sand in it . Negatives were rotted deck boards you could step through ,uneven counters in kitchen with unfinished edges ,and outdated decor . Be sure to check the additional fees that include a substantial owner service fee ,hot tub cleaning fee etc that will double the nightly rate you think you are getting

We had a wonderful time, the weather, the quiet, the location was perfect! Couldn’t have timed it better with 101 degrees in the Valley and clear and warm in Ft Bragg. We plan on returning to explore more of what we didn’t get to this trip and of course visit the beach, McKerricher State Park and local businesses. Jim

The house was good. The neighborhood was great. Quiet place with a private trail through the sand dunes to the beach. The jacuzzi was just as advertised great working order. However there were dirty dishes in the cupboard. (Probably from previous guests) Trimming the rose vines from the deck needs done badly.

Great place !
Sand dunes , hot tub , quiet location , cozy and clean , hiking forever , cool location . What could be better ? Unfortunately the internet didn't work , but no worries we took more hikes and enjoyed each other's company more . Would give the place 5 stars but the shower spigot was leaking badly , the deck needed pressure washing , as we both almost killed ourselves walking to the hot tub after it rained . The wild rasberry brambles growing over the deck didn't help much ,.. but hot tub , starry skies one night and a rainy night the next was awesome ! The house itself was cozy and tidy as well ,except for the overal interior design / decor ,.. which essentially looked like my grandmother's house ,... if my grandmother had really bad taste in decorating , way outdated !! but none of it really mattered that much , as the location is very cool and quite spectacular , if you're into nature and hiking like my wife and I are I'm perfect . Overall a great experience ,...save the little nit picky items I pointed out . Definitely would stay there again though despite the interior decor , which grows on you ,...but only alittle . Just please ! ,... dear owners , bring the decor into some semblance of the 21st century !! If it we're all updated , it would be the greatest Home Away rental EVER !! All good though !! Tourists from the Bay Area , like myself are always critical , but hey, I live 260 miles down the coast in the tiny coastal town of Pescadero in home built in 1852 , we occasionally rent it out as well but listened to our visitors on the update the decor thing after mentions of " outdated " appeared . Little IKEA , some rugs and second hand furniture buying and bingo ! Just saying .
