I vacationed at this resort back in ‘02 when it was OUR LUCAYA. What a stark contrast!!!
First of all, the all-inclusive DOES NOT exist!!
The rooms are inhabitable as the AC doesn’t work, but this isn’t disclosed until arrival—and according to reviews, this issue dates back a few months!!
The resort then booked us in another hotel that did not compare at all—no ocean view, cold tile flooring, & we had to walk back to Grand Lucayan in the heat several times a day for meals!!!! They said that they would shuttle us, but either no one was available or seemed irritated upon asking. They transported us 3 times during our 5 day stay—upon checking in, one night after dinner, and checking out. That’s it!!
Secondly, there are hardly any amenities—NO advertised water activities, NO masseuse on site, NO yoga!!
The resort is still beautiful, but needs lots of TLC!! The food was amazing. I can’t take that away from them, but unfortunately this was NOT the vacation that I’d envisioned.
Thirdly, we asked upfront about reconciliation for the inconvenience and was told to take it up with our travel agent. I advised Expedia about the checking-in experience. We even tried booking with another hotel; however, everyone was sold out.
We were given a key to the room we initially had booked, but it smelled like mildew & was very hot!
I realize that they are in recovery mode, but don’t advertise something you can’t deliver.
I am now awaiting a response to my partial refund request.
