Disappointing

I was extremely disappointed at check-in. The only request I had made was a ground floor room which was provided. However, I had expected breakfast and was told it was a self-catering accommodation. I asked about breakfast and was led to believe that was doubtful and being able to invite a guest not allowed! My previous stay at Cherry Berry provided a delicious breakfast for me and my roommate and a generous willingness to invite a friend to join us. We ate in the garden and were delighted at the warm welcome, gracious service and beautiful surroundings. Such was NOT my experience this time.

A lovely property which is well located. The rooms are elegant and comfortable. Cherry is a very nice host and her breakfasts are to die for.

This was a last minute booking just hours before I arrived, and I arrived late (8:30pm). The hosts were were very helpful and accommodating. Due to my late ETA they arranged for me to stay in a more convenient venue which was also an upgrade from the room I had booked. The room and en-suite was spacious, (large), spotless, with a balcony and contained everything I could possibly need - including a bar fridge and tea/coffee-making facilities. The icing on the cake was the ability to order a meal by phone, which was delivered to the premises and arrived piping hot. (I ordered a vegetarian pasta which was delicious - from an extensive range of possibilities). I wish I could stay longer - there is a lot to see and do in and around George. And, the venue is an ideal and beautiful base from which to explore the Swartberg Pass and Meirings Poort, and is also a close drive to the Wilderness and Knysna. Altogether a gem.
