8.2/10 Very Good! (5,161 reviews)
I recently stayed at the DoubleTree Berkeley Marina and was disappointed by how parking fees were handled. At check-in, I was asked what vehicle I was driving and whether I would be parking at the hotel, but I was never told there was a $42/day parking fee. No one mentioned the charge at checkout either.
I only discovered about $150 in parking charges after requesting and reviewing my receipt. The unexpected charge caused my credit card to go over its limit, resulting in additional fees.
When I explained that I had never been informed of the parking fee, the front desk employee responded rudely, saying there were signs posted everywhere. As someone with dyslexia, I don't always catch written notices, and her response made me feel embarrassed and dismissed.
My issue isn't the fee itself, but the lack of transparency and poor customer service. Hilton properties usually provide a better experience, but this stay left me frustrated and disappointed. I hope management improves communication and treats future guests with more respect.
