“I appreciated that the hotel had an on-site spa, and I was lucky it wasn’t busy, because the spa turned out to be mixed-gender. I was surprised, since I had asked beforehand and expected men and women to be separated, especially as I wear a headscarf. Still, the staff were kind and made sure no men entered while I was using the facilities, even closing the doors—definitely a perk of being the only guest. I booked a spa package with a Turkish bath and a massage. What surprised me most was how……
