"I had a room overlooking the Mekong which was great. The staff were very nice and the hotel is in a great location. The wifi is not great, I was told you should only connect one device at a time to the wifi, this is not really feasible if you have multiple devices. "

"Overall very good experience. A few things to be aware though... Staff don't speak much English, so get a translator app on your phone (e.g. Google Translator with offline Thai language pack) before you travel. Restaurant closes at 9PM, but there is a great place called Come Moon with live music. Only 5 minutes walk, and it closes at midnight."

Golden Triangle Hotel Guide

Accommodation isn't easy to come by in central Golden Triangle, but there are some great options available a bit further out. There are 8-listed hotels within a 6-mile radius.

Be part of the action and book yourself into the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle - All Inclusive. This popular hotel is just a short commute from the downtown area.

This area has only a handful of economical accommodations. The Gin's Maekhong View Resort & Spa is one of the most popular options, and makes a good choice for those that are trying to make their money last.

If you still haven't found what you're looking for, you might want to consider checking out the Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa as well as the Manee Dheva Resort and Spa, which are 16 miles and 17 miles from the city center of Golden Triangle. 16 miles away stands the Phu Chaisai Mountain Resort & Spa. The Serene at Chiang Rai is also in this area, 5 miles away.

Tachilek is 12 miles to the northwest of Golden Triangle, and is home to the Mae Sai Shrine and the Wat Phra That Wai Dao. The Bann Kong Kam House and Wang Thong Hotel are just some of the Expedia-recommended accommodation alternatives in Tachilek. 30 miles to the east of Golden Triangle you'll find Houayxay, home to the ibis Styles Chiang Khong Riverfront and Chiangkhong Green River. If you're staying in Houayxay, don't miss Wat Chiang Khong and The Friendship Bridge.

Chiang Rai is 30 miles from Golden Triangle. While you are in the region, you may wish to check out the King Meng Rai the Great Monument, Central Plaza Chiangrai and Saturday Walking Street Market. You might like to also visit the Wat Pra Singh and the Wat Phra Kaew.
