“We needed an overnight stop near Lewes, this being a mile or so north. Though on a main road (A275) it is a quiet, unpretentious and old country pub between a couple of other houses (one a former smithy) with convenient parking and an outside sitting/eating area behind, as well as 'bistro' style eating in the large downstairs bar, with a good selection of beers etc. The room and bathroom were simple and spotless,with fine quality towels and bed linen. “Our stay at the Mount Edgcumbe was genuinely exceptional. My wife wasn’t feeling well during our visit, and the manager and staff showed such warmth and care — nothing was ever too much trouble. Their kindness and attentiveness really stood out and made us feel completely looked after. The room was beautifully appointed, with everything we could need, and the bed was especially comfortable. We also appreciated how easy it was to come and go thanks to the private entrance — such a thoughtful……
