It was very rustic. The setting is in the woods near Lake Rabun. The room was a tad small but no problem. The restaurant was great. I would recommend them.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Remember that it is a 100 year old hotel so it’s rustic. Our room was freezing and when I inquired, they said it couldn’t be adjusted because the thermostat controlled the entire floor. But they did provide lots of covers and a heater which we used to offset the chill. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was pretty good but overpriced. The breakfast was delicious. Overall, for us, it was a one time stay.
Well, let’s just say I was disappointed. I had been reading about this hotel for awhile and looking forward to an exceptional experience. That was not the case. Walking to the front door I noticed the grounds not seem particularly well kept. It’s an OLD building so the floors creak and the doors squeak, the common areas had old musty smelling uncomfortable furniture. I realize it’s a historical old building but it couldn’t hurt to upgrade to some comfortable furniture that is designed to look like it’s from the era. On checking in, the receptionist was not overly friendly or helpful. She did not offer any information about the hotel or the area. I had to ask about breakfast and whether the restaurant was open—it was not open but she gave no explanation about why. Our room was on the third floor which was up two narrow staircases, there’s no elevators. We had one of the two rooms that have a king bed, my husband found it very uncomfortable, it is on the soft side. The bathroom nothing exceptional the amenities offered were one shampoo and conditioner and one body lotion, all in little bottles. There was no hand soap or bodywash, when I asked about it I was told they were on back order. We each had one bath towel, one hand towel and one washclothes, none of which were plush or large. For a hotel that is advertised as rustic luxury, you would expect a little nicer amenities. Each floor had a coffee station but there dirty coffee cups sitting in a tub that no one came to collect.
Very intresting place to stay. But the walls too tin ,can hear evrything from nabors room,no tv ,and most important to me,can't open the windows at noght.I like to enjoy the mountains air, when i traveling.
Sorry, but not coming back
We loved this unique hotel! Our room was exceptionally clean as were the common areas. Parking was easy, close and plentiful. Breakfast was delicious. I especially enjoyed the friendliness of all of the guests which I attribute to the warm, comfortable atmosphere.
I had knee replacement surgery 5 weeks ago. The lovely gal who runs the hotel during the day unilaterally offered to help me get my luggage to the room on the second floor. She is an outstanding asset to the property Znd it’s owners!
We had a wonderful beautiful scenically pleasant weekend stay and dinner at the restaurant was phenomenal! Thanks Ms Christy and Taylor for making it so special!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL...My Favorite place to Spend my Birthday...The Grounds are Amazing..Quaint, Cozy.. Samantha at the Front Desk was Wonderful
Will Definitely Be Back Often
The rooms are small with no TV, which suited us fine as we were away for a quiet retreat.
The staff are so friendly. Breakfast was freshly made good southern food, with a different item each day.
It is a very old creaky building with so much character, but no sound proofing!
The whole stay had a very tree house, fairy tale vibe. we loved it!
Our room was very nice but we will get a larger room next time. The staff was outstanding and we loved our stay. The restaurant was excellent and we had a wonderful dinner there. We'll definitely be back to stay again.
A wonderful small hotel with excellent customer service and staff. Clean and met every need we had. Delicious free breakfast and restaurant choices at the hotel as well as close by.

Disliked: Amenities
The hotel is in a beautiful area. There isn’t access to the lake from the hotel. There’s absolutely no privacy at all. You can hear everything from the adjacent rooms and bathroom. The bed is very uncomfortable. Squeaky with a hard spring mattress.
The staff were so friendly and also helpful in suggesting where to go to see waterfalls and where to dine as the restaurant was closed the evenings that we stayed.
