We recently stayed at this cottage in Bradwell and unfortunately had a disappointing experience overall.
While the location is nice, the property itself felt very run down and tired. There were clear signs of damp on the walls and ceilings, and the general condition of the place didn’t match what we expected from the listing photos.
One of the more concerning issues was that the smoke alarm had an expiry date sticker from 2014, which didn’t inspire much confidence in the maintenance or safety checks.
The cottage was also extremely cold during our stay, making it quite uncomfortable, especially in the evenings.
Due to these issues, we ended up leaving early on Tuesday morning, despite originally being booked until Friday.
Overall, the place has potential, but it really needs updating and better upkeep to meet a reasonable standard.

The cottage was absolutely fine for our stay and I wouldn’t say not to stay there. However I would have liked to have been aware how run down and in need of some decor and loving care it is.
It’s in a great position in a lovely village and in good distance to lots of things.
It just looks like it’s not been updated for years and even could do with a few more bits of glassware and crockery. Bits of the kitchen are falling apart and ended up with a cupboard collapsing on me and a fire extinguisher on my finger on first arrival.
The water doesn’t seem to get very hot so our bath was lukewarm unless we used the kettle.
And the bed mattress was very worn out and old and squishy.
Also lighting in cottage is sparse and not much light from windows so very dark inside.
It was nothing that ruined our stay however for the price I think it needs a little money spent on it and some care given to it.
