It was nice that hiking trails through the Hot S National Park we’re across the street. Historic downtown was just down the street. The hotel had tables and chairs just outside the rooms so guests could enjoy the scenery. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Window AC units were effective in controlling the room temperature. I would prefer a larger shower, but the motor court has retained the classic nature of the property.
My new default stay in Hot Springs. Was a bit nervous with the property type as I usually would avoid older model style places but on the advice of someone in one of my hiking groups I made a reservation for two nights. So convenient- just steps from hiking or one of the public cold springs. Everything was clean and in decent shape given the age. They opted for painting the tile in the bathroom over a more expensive redo so at first the chipping paint made me think there was mildew. Property was nice and quiet by the evening and I would recommend it as a friendly, convenient budget stay and would stay there again.
Nice little motel close to downtown. Clean, the a/c was very quiet. Didn’t hear noises from the rooms around us but not sure if they were occupied. It rained during our stay, they had umbrellas by the office you could borrow which was a nice touch. Would stay there again.
This was a much needed get away and this motel was no disappointment. Easy access to restaurants and hiking trails. I was highly impressed with the comfort of the room. Bed was very comfortable! Pet friendly and that is a big plus. I met new friends during my stay as well. The only suggestion I have is to add a few picnic tables and perhaps a barbecue grill. Overall A
The Happy Hollow is in a great location for hiking and walking downtown. Given the location we felt there was a dampness odor. One suggestion would be to add light blocking drapes or shades. The outside light is on all night, making it hard to sleep. (Even closing the drapes)
This place is very basic and wonderful. Comfortable bed, great for our dog and us. Just want we were looking for. Easy walk to downtown on a beautiful forest trail.
The Happy Hollow was well-worth the stay. It is very conveniently located adjacent to Hot Springs National Park and numerous walking trails. It's "out of the way" location reduced the noise and was a peaceful, quiet place. It's an older property. Rather than try to modernize, they aded a retro, 1960s feel to the place. An excellent value.
