"I booked this ryokan as it was the most price friendly. The owners were super friendly and helpful, even though we had to talk through google translate as my japanese wasnt good enough. As others mentioned the stairs down to the hot springs (ast least for the female side) felt a bit dungeon-y. But the hot springs were amazing. The room was a bit older and you could tell there was some normal wear and tear from over the years but if i would definitely recommend it."

"I’m no expert by any means, but having had the opportunity to experience two ryokans this trip (first in Osaka, then Kyoto) with similar prices but vastly different quality, I feel compelled to compare and comment. Service: Generally felt rushed during our stay. Check-in was technically at 3pm but shuttle was at 4pm, so we did not arrive until 4:30. Similarly, check out was at 10am, but shuttle was at 9:20. "I chose this ryokan since it was the only reasonably priced one in the Nara area. It has a beautiful garden just outside our room and the room itself was comfortable and large. The only downside to the place was the strong smell in the room and the cockroach that I had to kill as it crawled across the room."

"Very friendly, lovely atmosphere. We all really enjoyed dressing for our evening meal. Big variation of sea food if you're that way inclined. Unfortunately no bar to relax in after the evening meal. Overall very nice."
