"The house was just as pictured and very clean. The beds were comfortable and living area was spacious. There was a nice view of the loch out the dining room window and it was fun to watch the sheep with their lambs around the property. The location made it a good place to explore Lewis: Uig, the Calanais Standing Stones, the Black Houses, and to Stornoway for groceries and restaurants. There is the convenient Ravenspoint Centre about 2 miles down the road with a nice little museum, store with essentials, post office, and small cafe. Unfortunately the gas pumps were not working, but there was another station with a small grocery about 8 miles north. The owner provided a lovely welcome basket which was appreciated since we arrived late on a Saturday. The owner was very prompt and helpful in her replies to questions we had and there were a lot of pamphlets on things to do in the area. We would definitely rent this property again."

"This was our second holiday at this cosy, homely cottage. Mairi is so thoughtful - everything was provided, and there was also a lovely welcome pack on our arrival. Beds are very comfortable, and this location is incredibly quiet, so you are guaranteed a perfect night's sleep. The wildlife on Lewis is amazing - this year we actually watched Black-throated Divers courting on the loch whilst sat at the dining table, and then 3 Cuckoos in a chase around the trees in the front garden, plus Corncrakes calling at night. Amazing. This year we brought our kayaks, and I have to say that Lithir is about as good as it gets as a kayaking location. You can store your kayak in the garage on its trolley, just roll down the drive, then the slipway is about 30 metres along the road. You can then explore the inner loch if the weather's dodgy, otherwise paddle out beyond Carloway harbour and the world's your oyster. Also worth a mention is the local Carloway Community Shop and café. This is about 2 minutes away and provides pretty much everything you'll need, with very friendly and helpful staff, and saving you driving back to Stornoway for a groceries top-up. All in all, if you want Hebridean hospitality in the best location for exploring Lewis, come to Lithir."

"This was a comfortable, roomy cottage. We used it as a home base for exploring the Isles of Harris and Lewis. The owners were friendly and very responsive. This is still one of the spots we rave about after our trip. There is a great little coffee/tea/shop just at the end of the drive with a friendly proprietor and even friendlier doggo. "
