The whole experience was lovely. The staff was welcoming, the inn was charming and homey and the pub food was really good. We were met by friendly staff, an inviting sitting area with fireplace, and delicious hot apple cider. Check in was easy, the room was cozy, and the restaurant/lounge with live music was in an attached building. From the no offer to help us carry our luggage upstairs to the cold muffin for breakfast ( it was advertised as a grab and go to be fair) to the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen…. No one really seemed to care how our stay was. When we checked out, we were told have a nice day. I spoke to reception who apologised and said they would discount the room. I've not noticed any money return yet. Plus the Shovel bar and restaurant only opens Wednesday Thursday Friday so we had to drive somewhere else. The location of the bar was one of the main reasons I booked the place. I thought I could park up and relax,eat dinner and drink after a long drive. The room was spacious but the bathroom was very cramped. The floors throughout the inn were very noisy and creepy. We were looking forward to dinner and drinks at the Shovel Handel , but sadly it’s only open a few days a week. There was renovations going on in the back and was very noisy after 8am with Lots of banging and sawing. The back view was filled with construction dumpsters. The beds were very hard and pillows very flat. The staff were all very nice and welcoming. The restaurant on site had delicious food, and the waitstaff were all very friendly.
